NEW YORK New York Republicans will seek to impeach Democratic Gov. Eliot Spitzer if he does not resign within 48 hours, New York Assembly Republican leader James Tedisco told FOX News exclusively.
"We believe it is an illegal activity he has been involved with," Tedisco said speaking on FOX's "Hannity & Colmes."
"We're going to give him 24 to 48 hours to do the right thing, and the right thing is to resign because he has been compromised. If that's not the case ... we're going to ask the speaker to start impeachment proceedings," Tedisco said Monday night.

The Democrats have defended his actions. Just look at Carville. You are FOOLING yourself if you think the Democrats are for resignation of a hypocrite who used his power as Attorney General to go after the crime of prostitution.
The Rat spin is that he was “set up”. Yeah, given $5k to give in cash to a prostitute as a sting.
“And the RINOS don’t have it in them to get the job done.”
oh i dont know
even the most spineless will try to impeach him - this is easy prey
now if the Dem supermajority doesnt get behind it then it goes nowhere however it would make a wonderful PR campaign and do wonders for the state party
Yeah. That may be true, but is it better if they keep it in the news only to spin it into something against Republicans? That is what they will do. I’m for courage and principle. I think you can do that with the prosecuting side of it without pushing for particular political consequences. Maybe I’m just being weak minded. I’m not stuck firmly on this position, it’s just that when you are talking about a very liberal state with a mostly very liberal media, and voters who love liberals and have high tolerance for nasty stuff....well, it may be wise to just be sure he gets what is legally coming to him and let that mess of a political structure hang itself.

Spitzer has begun assembling a legal team and has tapped Michele Hirshman as his lead attorney, said Madelaine Miller, a spokeswoman for Hirshman’s law firm, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
Hirshman, who was the first deputy attorney general under Spitzer when he was attorney general, also is a former assistant U.S. attorney who “served as chief of the Public Corruption Unit, where she led major investigations and prosecutions of government fraud and political and police corruption,” according to the law firm’s Web site.
I want to know which Democrat presidential candidate will be public about wooing his support as a SUPER-delegate.
C’mon the public has a right to know.
Or will he step down from that roll?
It’s a politically impossible position for Democrats. You can’t argue on one hand that prostitution is a “victimless crime” and on the other hand that the international traffic in women is “modern slavery,” as the Democrats do.
I also saw Alan Dershowitz on Commie News Network last nite, excusing it as no big deal, saying that in another country this would not even be an issue! DUH, this is AMERICA!!!
Do you begin to wonder if all these Dummies are brainwashed at birth???
It is called THE CULTURE OF CORRUPTION. Pelosi, and Reid, and Dean beat us over the head with it in 2006. Show up the scumbags.
They have been kicked in the head by their high horse.
There is genuine slavery in some of the prostitution in America and elsewhere in this world. The girls are smuggled into the country, told that they cannot go public for fear of prosecution, and threatened with harm to their families back home if they try to leave.
Look at the Do Over that the Rats want on the Floriduh and Michigan primaries.
true but in this case it’s weak. She went of her own free will and was paid well to do so.
I had to go to DU to read the reaction to this news.
Did you shower afterwards?

The following is a statement from a spokesman for George Fox, whose name Spitzer is said to have used as an alias:
Published reports indicate that Governor Eliot Spitzer allegedly used the name “George Fox” as an alias in the activity currently under investigation. Mr. Fox has known Governor Spitzer for more than 20 years and has been a supporter during the Governor’s various political campaigns.
The news that his name may have been used as an alias comes as a great surprise and disappointment. Mr. Fox only became aware of Mr. Spitzer’s alleged activity when informed of it Monday morning by the media. There is absolutely no connection between Mr. Fox and the Governor’s alleged activity beyond the unauthorized use of his name.
Mr. Fox considers Governor Spitzer a close friend and is distressed by the news that has emerged.
