Not "new sins" but an old media blind spot (Vatican _DOES_NOT_ Announce Seven New Deadly Sins)

Sometimes the messenger manipulates the message. This thread jumped all over the Vatican for rewriting The Seven Deadly Sins when it did nothing of the kind. Instead, some reporter twisted the story from a reasonable condemnation of modern sins into a sensational - and inaccurate - fabrication designed to cast a Catholicism in a bad light.

(Fair disclosure: I'm a devout Protestant. I have my issues with Catholicism, but if someone's going to grossly mis-characterize another denomination, I'll stand against the unfair trashing of an honest, if debatable, faith.)

Quinn and Rose jumped all over this today, in the wrong way. Very disappointing.

The vast majority of the modern media is godless, both literally and explicitly. So, why is anyone surprised that what they produce consists of nothing but lies and deception?

I don't know about Quinn, but I do know Rose is a devout Catholic. She will be apologetic and set the record straight tomorrow. You can count on it.

The Vatican really needs to take the enemedia to the woodshed for this one. It isn't just that what got emphasized was so off-base, they completely twisted and corrupted what was said.

Thanks for posting this clarification.

Tradition leads to one place: Jesus Christ and the Apostles ___________________________________________________________________

My profile now shows a Traditional vs. New Mass comparison, from off the net.

Please no FReepmail about it from non-Catholics

What are Capital Sins? [Seven Deadly Sins]

The Seven (Heavenly) Virtues [as opposed to the Seven Deadly Sins]

The Seven Deadly or Capital Sins are the same today as they always have been. Thank you, Pope Gregory the Great!

From the above article.

A sin is not a sin because simply an archbishop proclaims it so. Sin, the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us, "is an offense against reason, truth, and right conscience…" The precepts of "reason, truth, and right conscience" do not shift in response to political trends, nor do they change at the whim of Vatican officials.

The fundamental point of the L'Osservatore Romano interview was that Catholics need to recover a sense of sin, make use of the sacrament of Confession, and receive absolution for their offenses. Sin, the archbishop insisted, is a reality that man cannot escape.

Archbishop Girotti said that the modern world does not understand the nature of sin. With their coverage of the interview, the mass media unintentionally underlined the prelate's point.

God Bless you!
I’ve said it before, when the MSM reports anything from a republican, FReepers ask for references.
When the MSM reports the words of the Pope, it’s as if it fell from heaven.
