John, could you fix the sidebar links so they’ll open new tabs? They’ve lost that ability lately.

I no longer see what forum each story is in. (News, Chat, Religion, etc.)
Sometimes before posting a story, I will search to see if it belongs in News or Chat.
For instance, the San Francisco Zoo / Tiger mauling stories could have gone either in News or in Chat (which is where they ended up).
In the past we could search “tiger zoo” and see that the moderators desired them in chat by making note of which forum they ended up in.
The new format makes it more of a guessing game for those news articles in the ‘grey area.’
Anyway, nice changes overall.

Thanks John! I’ve been waiting for you to put up a thread about the changes here at FR. I’m very impressed with the way you are doing subtle enhancements that keep the style and flavor of Free Republic intact.
Well done, many thanks, and keep up the great work!!

Thanks for making the best web site in the world even better!
It is possible to create “Browse by Forums” for:
1. Science
2. Technology
Many of my favorite threads are those related to these topics and I suspect many others feel the same.
THANK YOU!!!

Might be good to have a Default Settings button on the Manage Blocks page so you if you botch the weightings or get confused you can start over.
