What crime did he committ? I mean isn’t this a state offense? I would think that they’re after the prostitue not the client.

The “client” is guilty of “soliciting”.........so he was a SOLICITOR in more than one way!!!!................

Spitzer arranged for a NY prostitute to meet him in DC. Possibly, this violated the Mann Act, a federal law prohibiting interstate trafficking. This law was passed in 1910 and famously brings down celebrities.
