McCain, Republicans, and "Global Warming"
town hall ^ | 3/9/08 | Austin Hill

Think you can sidestep the issue of “global warming,” simply by voting Republican?

Think again. Now that Senator John McCain is officially the Republican nominee for President, global warming is, whether anyone likes it or not, an “issue” for both of our nation’s dominant political parties. McCain has been gravitating towards this issue for several years, and made his mark with it during his chairing of the U.S. Senate hearings on global warming back in 2004

I almost hate McCain. I don’t feel that way about many people.

Where is the party that represents us?

Oh, but he's OUR global-warmer! As Andy Griffith used to say, "Anything's better if it fits on a R-itz."

That will essentially be a vote to sabotage our troops effort thusfar in Iraq.

I won't be complicit in voting for any candidate who supports amnesty, which will destroy this country with a stroke of a pen. If amnesty passes, everything else is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

You still call it global warming in the U.S.? I haven’t heard this term in Germany for several month. Here it’s called a neutral “climate change” now. So whatever the climate does, those who feel the urge, may feel guilty.

I ask you not to abstain from voting. The election to president by any of these three is going to require that we elect a conservative congress, conservative governors and conservative state governments to keep these guys in check. Also a write in or third party vote for a real conservative will possibly send the GOP a message that we are tired of their tactics.
Thanx Bill

On an interview with Glen Beck, the president of the Chzek republic remarked that the ploy being used by the global warmists are the same tactics used by the communists to persuade his people to put them in power and accept socialism.

McCain also quite wisely ties environmental concerns together with the obvious geopolitical dilemma of our reliance on foreign oil,

and opposes drilling in ANWR. So what's the big deal?

W "claims" (though his actions belie his words) that he favors drilling in ANWR, yet has gone over to the dark side and is close to becoming an OwlGore acolyte--his having signed the CAFE standards bill, the Biofuels increase bill and now, the anti choice lightbulb bill.

Go figure.

It is climate change here too, we conservatives won't allow them to get away with changing the name to fit whatever template is happening at the moment. First it was warming, that was an unprovable lie, so now it is climate change. Either way it is BS. Climates have changed all the time. Just another socialist scheme to bilk people out of their money to line liberal pockets across the globe.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 12, 2007

Lieberman, McCain Reintroduce Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act

Bill Improvements, Mounting Warming Impacts Attract Co-Sponsors to Bipartisan Measure

WASHINGTON – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) reintroduced the Climate Stewardship and Innovation Act (S. 280) today with his longstanding ally, Senator John McCain (R-AZ). Co-sponsoring the bill are Senators Barack Obama (D-IL) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME), who had co-sponsored the 2005 version of the bill, and Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Susan Collins (R-ME). The most bipartisan of the Senate proposals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all major sectors of the US economy, the new bill quickly won endorsements from the National Wildlife Federation, Environmental Defense, and the Pew Center on Global Climate Change.

(snip)

“We continue to work with the scientific community, industry, economists, environmentalists, the faith-based community, and other stakeholders to ensure that we are fully addressing the serious problem of global warming in a manner that has both economic and environmental integrity,” said McCain. “I am confident that given our will and what's at stake, America can and must assume its proper leadership role in addressing the preeminent environmental issue of our time, the consequences of which so directly affects our national interests. The costs of inaction are enormous, and the national security concerns related to our inaction cannot be ignored. That is why I will continue working with my colleagues to further improve this legislation to craft and implement a market-based policy that will efficiently combat global warming in a manner that will serve our nation well for many years to come.”

(snip)

“With each passing year, the consequences of federal inaction on reducing greenhouse gas emissions become more devastating for our children and grandchildren, and the range of solutions grows smaller,” Obama said. “This bill offers a comprehensive solution that relies on American will, ingenuity, and technological expertise to solve one of the greatest problems of our generation, and it deserves consideration by the Senate as soon as possible.”

(snip)

I almost hate McCain. I don’t feel that way about many people. Where is the party that represents us?

It seems very much as though the Republican apparatus merely rewards its long term hacks--Nixon, the Bush Family, Ford, Dole, McCain--and it doesn't really care about the party members at all. (Reagan was the one exception, and that was because they couldn't contain his charisma and his communication skills).

The best way to improve the Republican brand is to abandon it; let the socialists take their turn for four years and then wait for the party hacks to come back on their knees. If we vote for McCain, we will be going to them on our knees.

Spend time with your local leaders, cultivate them as your representative AGAINST Washington, and let McCain lose, so he can get a job with a global warming think tank.

This will sound harsh, but real patriots cannot vote for McCain.

We’re stuck with complying with constitutional law at this time. So as ludicrous as this sounds, let’s at least get McCain into the Oval Office just to keep Clinton and Obama out and then impeach McCain if we need to.

Sorry if this link has already been posted. It's John McCain's official word about so-called AGW (Anthropogenic Global Warming).
http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/65bd0fbe-737b-4851-a7e7-d9a37cb278db.htm
From my perspective, AGW has not been substantiated as scientific fact by means of the consistent results of repeatable, scientific-method based experiments. Its basis in "reality" is political correctness, in my opinion.

In fact the data PROVES the theory is fatally flawed.

AGW has not been substantiated as scientific fact
