By Bill Gertz - China missiles
One little-noticed intelligence disclosure contained in the Pentagon's annual report on Chinese military power says China now has ballistic missiles designed to hit U.S. aircraft carriers and ships at sea.
The missiles are described in the report as part of China's "anti-access/area denial capabilities" that include "anti-ship ballistic missiles designed to strike ships at sea, including aircraft carriers."
Using a ballistic missile to target ships requires a degree of sophistication not shown by Chinese missiles in the past, and indicates China's military has mastered precision missile targeting, no doubt helped by the theft of U.S. warhead design and other secrets through espionage in the 1990s.
Other new weapons that are part of the precision-guided missile arsenal are advanced cruise missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles, the direct ascent anti-satellite missiles, like the one tested in January 2007.

“Theft hell!
Bill Clinton sold it to them.”

It’s not just Clinton.
Every time you shop at Wal*Mart, you help pay for more.
In five or less.
“All three major candidates are funded by George Soros among other nefarious sources.. Yes,, John McLaim too..”
Precisely, but the sheeple get upset when you point that out.
Almost 70% of FR refuse to admit the plain truth.
Dont know about those numbers but some are oblivious
Exactly, and thanks to a Congress that would not look into and an Attorney General who stopped them and Starr from doing it.
The first woman Attorney General helped to make sure that our grandchildren would not be safe, while the first woman Secretary of State assisted in whatever way she could. And now they want a first woman or black president to finish us off.
But, to date, all I have seen has told me that they remain nuclear.
If that is the case, one use of such a weapon would unleash America's arsenal on China. It would play to our absolute strength in terms of numbers, quality, and accuracy in nuclear missiles. Veyr un-Chinese...very un-Sun Tsu.
Without a premptive nuclear strike against our bomber bases and missile silos, they would not, IMHO, consider use of such a weapon. And that would again, play to our strength. In any case, they would not get our SSBN's at sea, which carry many times more missiles than in the entire Chinese arsenal.
So, one of three things:
1) The Chinese would only use such a weapon as a last ditch effort, in the middile of an otherwise disasterous situation at whidch time they would also be launching a general nuclear war against us.
2) The Chinese are waiting for a weak democratic President and believe a weak president would not respond to such an out an out atrocity (and I believe they are wrong here...outside of maybe Obama).
3) The Chinese have a conventional capability for these missiles and guidance systems (which themselves are iffy IMHO) that we are unaware of.
That last is not so unheard of. We have considered the same ourtselves.
EVERYONE IN THE WORLD knows that the price of a sunken US Aircraft Carrier is the complete and total annhiliation of your nation via WMD. An aircraft carrier is a capital, strategic asset. It carries dozens of nukes...and up to 6000 personnel.
Fully loaded...to include the cost of replacement manpower it's worth upwards of $15bil.
Don’t you mean negotiate surrender before the war?
Just remember,
Those who call themselves intellectual, are voting for him because they want change.
Something strange about this story.
A ballistic missile typically means a multi-stage rocket that is fired almost into space, then releases a warhead that passively drops back to earth at great speed, onto a fixed location, like a city or a military installation.
The warhead may have evasive capabilities, but its target is pre-set, and it has no ability to track or follow something that is moving.
Perhaps this means China has targeted sections of the Pacific Ocean for nuclear attack?
Interesting, but no more difficult than targeting Los Angeles.

Of course not. The danger with democracy and a free people is that it allows for ignorance and complacency. A free society needs God. A secular and free people become hedonistic and nihilist, a trend you do see today in American society. Our nation is free for one reason, we are willing to kill people to remain such.
The day we resign and look inward, pretending what happens out there does not affect us, is the day we not only fall as the leading nation, it will be the day the West begins its decline like so many great civilizations before us.
We are the core of the West. We set the trend, the standard, we are the symbolic embodiment of the free world. Why do you think the WTC (economic), Pentagon (military), and White House (political) were selected? Like Vienna was the center of culture in the past, we are at the heart of the world order today. Our demise will be followed by the demise the entire Western free world, even though no one realizes it.
There is no such thing as a free lunch; especially when it comes to freedom.
Don't bank on this ever being solved.
You honestly think there is anyone in the chain of command that would nuclear? I don’t.
Your goose might be goosed and then cooked..
The Soviets were at one time developing a variant of the SS-N-8 Sawfly that was supposed to be able to target surface ships. I would assume that targeting data was supposed to originate from either an AV-MF Bear or a RORSAT. Radar terminal guidance, but still a nuke warhead.
How about for Naval procurement, what weapons would you seek to develop and deploy? Look at how much money has been poured into MRAPs in response to IEDs, surely the Navy must be working on some type of counter. What if the counter to the Chinese anti-carrier area denial strategy is not something that involves carriers, but involves other assets like 1) subs 2) bombers out of Guam 3) space assets 4) undersea robots?
I wonder if in an actual conflict if the carrier actions would be the least critical aspect of the conflict, that 98% of the action would be above the action or below the surface.
If I had my druthers I would be working with Taiwan to cover the entire Taiwan strait with sensors in place that would track all Chicom naval assets that could then be hit by SSBNs at leisure.
Only WW3.
