Let’s us know what Dennis Hastert was really like. It’s sad really, but Illinois has ceased to be a GOP stronghold long ago. They’d rather elect a lying Democrat.

Oberweis’s confrontational style does turn people off, esp women.

I think you nailed it there. "Cranky," was the word I often heard.

Obie is the nominee for November as well. Obie has any sense, he would quit the November race and stick to making ice cream.

It looks dire:

U.S. House - District 14 - Special General
Illinois - 447 of 568 Precincts Reporting - 79%

Name Party Votes Vote %

Foster , Bill Dem 41,488 53%
Oberweis , Jim GOP 36,933 47%

Would it be vindictive for me to ping this to Chicagolady?

He’s a crappy, unlikeable candidate who’s run for about five offices. I gotta assume Hastert stuck with him because he has a lot of money and he hoped Obey would dump it in the race. I hope this kills off Obey for any future contests. Hopefully, a real Republican will run in November.

He needs to forced not to run in November. Surely even the most arrogant fool could see after so many losses that he will never hold elective office.

Lauzen 08.

The polls have just closed there, only 1% of the precincts are counted.

Don't blame me, I supported State Rep. Jim Durkin (no relation to RAT Durbin) for U.S. Senate in 2002, State Rep. Jon Wright for U.S. Senate in 2004, State Senator Bill Brady for Governor in 2006, and State Senator Chris Lauzen for Congress in 2008.

You'd think the Oberweis crowd would stop beliving he was the "best" candidate we could run about the time of his third loss or so.

Though again, I doubt you'll get any of them to admit they should have backed Bill Brady in 2006 and that Obie would NOT have "beat Blago".

In the next few days, watch the Oberweis Club blame Bill Brady, Judy Topinka, Denny Hastert, Bush, McCain, etc. for losing the race for Obie. Its never Oberweis’s fault. Its those evil RINOs keeping conservatives down.

She'll just blame it on Chris Lauzen for not "getting behind" Obie strongly enough after Obie spent 3 million bucks on characther assisination ads against him. Nevermind the fact that polls show that roughly 90% of Lauzen voters supporting the party's nominee. The thing that's killing Obie is his showing with independants and conservative-leaning female voters.

But according to the Obie fans, it's NEVER Obie's fault. Ever.

With almost 90% of the precincts counted, here it is:

U.S. House - District 14 - Special General
Illinois - 500 of 568 Precincts Reporting - 88%

Name Party Votes Vote %

Foster , Bill Dem 44,087 53%
Oberweis , Jim GOP 39,779 47%

I don’t any outcome to this other than an Oberweis concession speech. The only possible good news would be if he dropped out of the general election.

I no longer live in Illinois, but I started liking Oberweis when he was the ONLY GOP candidate willing to take on illegal immigration several years ago.

Isn’t he considered a pretty solid conservative?

Not to mention they accuse everyone on the planet of being "RINOs" -- except for Oberweis himself and his supporters. (shades of the Ron Paul cultists). If Ronald Reagan himself ran in the primary against Oberweis, they'd accuse him of being a combine member and Topinka plant out to steal conservative voters from Obie and elect a RINO.

The other winner tonight other than the bad guys would be Survey USA.

2 days ago, Survey USA had a poll on the IL-14 race. It had Foster leading Obie by 52-47. Almost the same totals being counted tonight.

It’s only 6 precincts.

I hope Woody Jenkins wins without a runoff. Paul Sawyer’s negative ads don’t deserve to be rewarded.

What is Lauzen like? Is he any good, or just another Illinois RINO?
