Here is video of John McCain talking on Trinity Broadcasting Network about his faith and some of his experiences while a POW in Vietnam. The video was added to YouTube in March 2007, but I'm not sure when the interview actually took place. Very moving and inspirational. . .

“How did Rice get on the list?”

-

I sometimes play favorites. :)

Seriously though. I have a hugh amount of respect for Dr. Rice. She’s brilliant, she understands geopolitics, and even contributed to ending the cold war.

I like her. And she’s win elections like you’ve never even seen.

She’d be a wonderful candidate.

Sadly. The true heroes from Viet Nam never got a chance to run for president. They just got their names inscribed on a wall.

She could also be first black, first woman president if McCain didn’t make it through his term.

Nope! I already have a pastor...Unfortunately, some are trying to find one for the first time in a president.

I don't mean this in a negative way at all. I am looking at the bigger picture. Those who gave all were victims the same as POW's/MIA's. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. It was the Audie Murphy's who are the true heros. They took it upon themselves to be in the wrong place at the right time to show their valor. I know there were similar heros for Viet Nam and in Iraq but I don't know their names. These are my heros and there are only a few.

I know exactly what you mean and I agree with you whole heartedly about heroes. I think in the future I will try to refer to the dead as honored fallen warriors. That works for me.sometimes it seems to sound pretentious but it is certainly appropriate.

For years I have had a pet peeve about Memorial Day and Veterans' Day.

Memorial Day, as I am sure you know, is for those who were killed in war. Now days it seems we celebrate all dead Veterans on Memorial Day.

Veterans Day is for all veterans who died after service and who are still living.

This is what I was raised to believe the two holidays were about.

Well you're right. But sometimes it seems folks make them interchangeable. But I'm just too picky. I mean, I really get ticked when I hear people say Feb-u-ary.

Did Crouch mention to him that if he had enough faith, he wouldn’t have been captured or tortured?

When it comes to honoring our military I think the holidays do matter. People who have had their family KIA during service want their special day to mean what it is suppose to represent. And the Veterans’ want their special day also. They are not interchangeable and this slacking might be partly responsible for why McCain takes advantage of his military background and why Kerry was Swiftboated due to his military background. I don’t know but it is a pet peeve of mine. Guess, I will go to bed now. Nice chatting.

I hope you don't think I was implying that I thought they did not matter. They most certainly do. Thanks.

Here's what he did for veterans, POWs and MIA and serving vets when he was free again and secure in his Senate seat.
