To: Always Right

That is not an astros hat. It is a 5-pointed star cocked to the right. He is gang member.

The 5-point star is one of the symbols of Bloods/People Nation members, who oppose the Crips/Folk Nation.

Crip gang members tend to use this symbol also. ...

The “People” alliance, in most instances, utilize the five pointed star in their gang graffiti. The five pointed star has its origin with the Black Stone Rangers/Black P Stone Nation, one of the larger black street gangs. The alliance’s term “high five, six must die” is in reference to their five pointed star versus the six pointed star of the “Folks” alliance. Commonly used by the “People” alliance are drawings of pitchforks pointing down which shows disrespect to the rival “Folks” alliance.

Some gangs use particular sports team clothing to represent their gang by picking a team that uses the colors associated with gangs. They may also pick out a team’s clothing because of the symbol represented by that team, such as the five point star used by the Dallas Cowboys.

Gangs are often associated with one of two groups: the Folks or Hoover Nation gang, or the Peoples. Jewelry with a six-point star indicates a membership with a gang related to the Folks and a five-point star is associated with the Peoples.
