That’s a good point. His request is based on something that cannot be tested for though. What is to keep every other person facing deportation from claiming that they are gay? If it’s got a precedent.
People who escape places like Iran should be found homes elsewhere agreed. ‘I’m gay so you have to give me asylum’ seems a bit off point.

Actually, his request was more like "If you send me home, they're gonna execute me for being gay." So my original point stands: The concept of asylum was developed to rescue people from places where the thought police have that kind of power. The fact that he's claiming to be gay should be irrelevant.
