PGA Bird Killer Charged Tripp Isenhour
CNSI website ^ | march, 2008 | Neil Becker

Using absolutely poor judgment and acting un-professionally, PGA tour golfer Tripp Isenhour is about to pay the consequences for his selfish act from last December 12 when, at the Grand Cypress Golf course, he purposely killed a migratory bird. Showing no compassion for the habits of creatures, Isenhour, who was filming a segment for 'Shoot Like A Pro,' apparently got frustrated when the red shouldered hawk began making noises and forcing take after take. In a rage, Isenhour,

It’s not on his dime. He’s paid a fee to be in the segment. If he is the producer or executive producer, then I’d agree with you. He’s a minor league golfer who can’t keep his tour card. This had no effect on his livelihood.

Now if the producers told him to aim at the bird, because it was costing them money for the delays....

Where is the harm? He killed a voracious predator that bloodily and mercilessly killed hundreds of fellow creatures in any given year, so he ought to be applauded by animal-rights wackos for saving thousands of “lives”.

I guess that when other animals kill other animals, if becomes “moral”.

Insanity.”

Thanks for the sanity of your post. For the first batch of comments coming in I thought this was DU, PETA or some other dipsh@t site. As a golfer for 56 years, I can say the odds of him hitting the bird were in the million to one range. By the way to those who did not read the article...he was trying to hit branches or something to scare the bird away...he was not aiming to hit the bird.

Isenhour, who plays on the developmental Nationwide Tour, was charged Wednesday with cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird, misdemeanors that carry a maximum penalty of 14 months in jail and $1,500 in fines.

``We ask that everyone accept my sincerest apology, and please be respectful of my family's privacy,'' he said.

It still is all about him is it not. He needs to switch to the mentally developmental tour.

That’s a good point. Too bad he didn’t think of it.

Well if you want to make the mistake of anthropomorphosizing the hawk, go ahead. Morals make no sense to animals (human or otherwise) who don’t know right and wrong, just living.

Have you thought about the new long bows that are out there? Apparently they have a lot of power and they are uncomplicated. I don’t know how’d they’d be with your back.

He wouldn’t face the problem of a protected species if it were one of the three you listed. However just about anything still makes him look like a jerk and un-necessarily cruel. I mean, I could be on his side if a weird acting raccoon came charging at him and he was defending himself. I never have a problem with people defending themselves against animals. This was just so cheesy and unnecessary to do. Big gold guy pissed a bird is f#cking up his takes. What they needed was someone to let off a few ‘bird bombs’ (loud booms) to scare away the bird (and any prey) in that area.

Maybe a possible outcome of this is “bird bombs” becoming a standard on golf courses? (Along with a “time-out” to handle the bird)

The only thing that makes the bird “protected” is it’s migratory status, not it’s population in the world.

I’ve been looking for a good long bow for some time. Any suggestions on where to get a good one?

“The Sportsmans Guide” catalog I just got has a PSE Sequoia HUnting Longbow with leather wrapped comfort handle for $199 (179 if you belong to the Members Club).

You can get them left or right handed. They use two different species of wood glued together to take advantage of the different properties of each wood. It is lighter than a compound bow at just under 2 pounds. The item#: CX8X-120692X. Left hand style#: 274 Right hand: 275

You can find them online: www.sportsmanguide.com

Apparently I am wrong and they did try it, although I just cannot fathom that there wasn’t some way to get it to leave short of killing it.

I’m inclined to believe the bird was just stupid and Darwin smiled down upon it the day.

It’s a good place to get some survival items and some ammo now and then.

I hope the bird comes back to haunt him in his dreams from now to eternity. Would serve the creep right.

This perp should be forced to wear the scarlet letters of "BK" and when he goes out onto the golf course, a drummer should accompany him, crying out, "Bird Killer, bird killer" (a la Nathaniel Hawthorne).

Thank you. Precisely my point. Animals are not people.
