We’ll have to politely disagree on this one. I think the only way to send the message to Republican leadership is to withdraw support from the party as it now exists. There is no alternative here for Republicans.

This state allows independents to choose, but there is no “crossover” voting allowed. I just choose to not belong to the GOP as long as Ken Mehlman, Carly Fiorina, John McCain and that bunch are involved. Sorry, I have my principles.

What? Can't we at least get into a rabble-rousing, name calling, scratch-claw-and-punch, all-out brawl? You're no fun! ;-)

I suspect I would get the worst of such a brawl. You know my weaknesses.

I will be the first to admit that this is the sorriest collection of candidates in my lifetime. But having said that there is no way I’m voting for Hillary or Obama. I trust my party.

I am beginning to like John McCain. Rove’s idea of getting Mcain’s story out to the public is a good one.

And after it's been filtered by the MSM, they'll leave McCain looking like the missing link, always just about to publicly wet himself. McCain let the MSM create him. It will be a bitter but well deserved surprised as they tear him down.

BTW, now that he's clinched the nomination, has anyone heard him refered to as the GOP maverick as he was once so popularly known?

The way to stop it is to run a conservative with a third party.

The GOP has lived way past its life expectancy. Historically, whenever the current conservative party became too much like the democrat party,(ever protean and ever there), it was replaced by a conservative successor. The Federalists were replaced by The Whigs, who were then replaced by The GOP. Since the GOP is determined to become nothing more than the demcrat-lite party, there is no logical reason for its continued existence. Serious conservatives should begin looking for its successor.

A lot of people also think that security issues start at the border, my friend. And a majority of McCain supporters have their heads up their butts about that, as well.

And where did I say that shouldn't be a security issue My friend

I don't question anyone who plans to vote for him--it's their vote. But I do have to disagree with you about trusting the party--at least the so-called "leaders" of the party who ignore the platform and push liberalism. I'll be fighting that type until the day I die. In California, our last chairman publicly declared that he wanted to become a "Purple Party." Would you trust that? Is that what McCain supporters want--to have a single party system in the U.S.?

However, you didn't answer the question. What is your basis for saying that McCain is a conservative and "consistently ranks in the top 12%"? Did you not realize how bad his rankings and his record really are?

Well, you responded to a post about voters in the presidential election. I was only pointing out that some of the same characteristics you mentioned about voters are shared by the supposititious "Republican" presidential nominee.

Why don't you go start a Republican forum if that's all you want to discuss?
Some of us on this conservative forum would like to discuss conservatism and how to fight liberalism.

I suspect a good deal of McCain supporters simply do not, as I suspect that a number of his voters may not have known.

THen why has he ranked as high as he has as a conservative over the years? He’s consistently in the top 12%

Untrue. McCain's 2006 ACU rating is 65%. That's lower than some Democrats.

“no I dont want you to vote for him these post are for people who want to discuss how to beat the Democrats “

You’ve been here along time and know better. McNutt hasn’t received the nomination yet. Now is the last time we can influence the GOP in this election.

How you beat the Democrats is not by running a liberal Democrat. And if 70% of the people here really believe that, we have our work cut out for us.

You have bought into the “it’s hopeless let’s just grin and bear it—one more time” mantra—just like the GOP wants you to.

And BTW, if you really believe these threads are just for those who wants to beat the Dems, then ask Jim Robinson if it OK to run a disclaimer at the top of the thread, and all of the McCainiacs won’t have to be bothered with conservatives who really want to win in 2008.

Probably the last couple years he’s slipped, but over all during his tenure he’s voted pretty conservative. At least that’s what the media has been touting...

I know what you’re saying. Let’s stand firm. Give them this election...and then come back hard in 2012 when the liberals have screwed things up...

I still think we can influence McCain to succeed. Terrorism is the most important thing right now... The economy too... You look at the first 100 days for Obama and Hillary and you’re looking at the beginning of the fall of the roman empire...
