TV Scheduling In America Has Overshadowed Natural Circadian Rhythms ScienceDaily (Mar. 7, 2008) Most of the nation is once again readying itself for losing an hour of sleep with the arrival of Daylight Saving Time. This is a "shock" not only to those of us who value our sleep, but also (very temporarily) to all levels of the economy, from the individual to the world....
How did these man-made cues come about" Daylight Saving Time has its roots in the Standard Time Act of 1918; the DST component, which was a wartime energy-saving measure, was repealed after World War I. The current plan was signed into law by President Johnson in 1966 as the Uniform Time Act. Last year, Daylight Saving was extended by four weeks.

The good thing is that we human beings are not greatly influenced by circadian rhythms, despite what you read in pop-media-junk-science articles.
right, it’s a good thing they’re controlled by the timing of Leno’s monologue instead.
We are eminently adaptable creatures, which is why we’re here after millions of years.
Well. There we have it. Reminds me PJ O'Rourke's statementsthat the real three branches of government are money, television and bullsh*t.
freeping comes in third for me
Yeah, let’s adopt a lifestyle in which our circadian rhythms are unaffected by electricity (because the advent of electricity—and even candles—has a much greater effect on supposed circadian rhythms than TV) and live like rural Africans out in the bush. We’ll all be so much better off then.
Obama campaign theme?
BO = B2A?
It’s a free country.
People who don’t like daylight savings time should set their clocks to whatever time they wish.
Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho!
Alarm clocks got to go!
Two, four, six, eight!
Sunsets at noon and it’s great
Wow, this article seems to be implying that people still watch television. I hadn’t realized that.
TV is so over; only Freeping has any reality.
try not to go into withdrawal with an hour less Freeping today
I’m glad I read this. I’d have been late for church tomorrow!
Agreed, my old 19" Sony is hooked to the VCR/DVD player w/rabbit ears. End of the year, no rabbit ears. How do people put up with those commercial things? (lets not talk about my 25" computer monitor:-)
BeAllYouCanBe solution; set the clocks 1/2 hour ahead and leave them there! End of any problem. I have lived most of my life in Indiana and I loved never switching time. I will die and still never understand any advantage to “day light savings” — I mean were are we putting all of this saved time?
Daylight Saving Time is a Communist plot to sap our Precious Bodily Fluids.
yeah, but you’d have an excuse this week
I have actually heard this proposed by radical Greens. They say that if we all had to get up at sunrise and work hard all day growing food by hand/with horses and went to sleep at sundown, we would not need to use electricity at all.
Now, I want to see these people actually do that without the safety net of their trust funds.
I lead the choir. Being late would be *bad*!
