Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh led a campaign to have his Republican followers in Texas cross party lines and vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the states open primary last Tuesday. Why? Because Limbaugh thinks Republicans can defeat Clinton in a general election. Plus, watching Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama bloody each other in a nomination fight is pure sport for Limbaugh conservatives.
According to exit polls, Clinton won a notably higher number of Republican voters than she has in past open primary contests. Of the 9% of voters who identified themselves as Republicans in the Democratic Primary, Obama still edged Clinton 53%-46%. However, that margin is significantly slimmer than earlier contests. In Wisconsins open primary, for instance, Republicans broke 72%-28% for Obama. Similarly, in Virginias open primary, Obama was favored 72%-23%.
Clinton unquestionably secured a Texas victory, but some locals are convinced it was a false win bolstered by dirty politics. Laura Jean Kreissl, an accounting professor at West Texas A&M University, served as an election official in Canyon, Texas on Tuesday. She contacted the Wall Street Journal to report the hijinks she observed at the four precincts that voted at her polling location.
Of the 181 voters she personally dealt with, 70 offered that they were Rush Limbaugh voters who were there to cast ballots for Clinton. Im here to vote for Hillary Clinton, I want to see the Democratic Party implode, one voter told Kreissl, she recounted in an interview. I was just stunned, she said. As an election official we cant say anything. We just jot them down and let them vote.

—Thanks Rush, for allowing these grifters another shot at the White House.—
Yup. Rush must realize there is no way McCain is going to be elected POTUS (unless Obama and Shrillary are both hit by a bus while walking to the convention center). Obama is cerainly a lesser evil than Shrillary (who will be taking her slimy hubby back into the White House).
You NEVER assist evil. No good can ever come of it.
All respect has been lost for Rush.
He is a FOOL.
My feelings as well. Now they are energized by their win and there will be hell to pay. I don’t trust Rush on this as the beast has been inspired and refueled when she should have been knocked out.
Yes, now Democrat supporters can actually get out their calculators and figure out
(average health care cost for 1 year) X (every American) = $$^2
before they vote in the general election for McDole, whose market reforms make more sense.
Rush is entertaining, no doubt. Most of us have grown up, though. His self-promoting status as a moral beacon has worn thin, IMO, especially after his third divorce.
It is not up to the GOP.
Here in Texas, there is no such thing as a registered Democrat, or Republican.....just registered voters.
We would resent any PAC demanding that we change how we conduct our business.
The libs believe that because we sometimes fail to live up to moral standards, that makes those standards invalid in general.
I agree with you. What a stupid thing to do. The Clintons were on the ropes and ready to go down.
One of the many problems with Rush’s plan was that not only did it bring Hildy back from the dead, because Obama was not able to give her a knockout punch, the Rats will have no choice but to put BOTH of them on the ticket.
So not only did we not get rid of the Witch, we got the Witch AND Obama.
That’s not helpful.
Baloney. B. Hussein and Hildebeast will be at each others throats for months now, just as Rush planned it. Even McQueeg will be able to beat the democRAT left standing.
Hmm, wonder if Ms. Kreissl thought the crossing over of Democrats to vote in the Republican race in Michigan's primary was hijinks, too.
I can't see the Dems pulling it together either as these are people who hate their own mothers and love to fight with anyone as long as it is not the real enemy. However, I never underestimate my enemies. The Dems are like a bad lower back, a pain in the a__ that aches whenever heavy lifting is required.
If the GOP cannot get itself organized, I'm ready for a Hillary Administration with lots of popcorn. For myself and my family, we will be voting for McCain with gas masks.
This is exactly what will happen.
Well, there sure are a lot of folks around here claiming they voted for Hildabeast b/c of the Rush plan.
As for making a difference in the outcome, the thing is that the Rat system is proportional. Therefore, ANY increase in the popular vote could increase the delegates awarded. A candidate didn’t have to win the race to benefit-—and potentially benefit greatly-—from cross-overs.
Plus, for the Witch, it hasn’t been about winning by pledged delegates for a long time. That hasn’t been realistic for a while. What it is about is coming close enough so that she has the cover to win in the smokey back room.
IOW, it was all about the MARGIN of victory/defeat. And EVERY cross-over vote affected the margin.
Here is some of what Hildy got out of her margins:
1. The supers can’t write her off. The planned “intervention” to ask her to quit the race is permanently (!) off.
2. She argues to the supers that only she can win the big states. I.e., Obama is not as electable; Electoral College math supports her even if delegate math supports him.
3. She argues to the DNC that these margins prove that she deserves a re-do in FL and MI. Plus, she argues that since it’s “so close” (again, cross-overs affected how close it is), the supers will have to determine the ticket; since no one wants that, the way out (and politicos are always looking for a way out) is to support re-dos in FL and MI.
4. She argues that if the supers have to decide the ticket, as they do now (recent reports show that NEITHER Obama or Hildy can win through pledged delegates alone now), they should put her on top (because see #1) and force Obama to take the VP slot.
5. The fact that the DNC is now forced to support some sort of re-do in FL and MI gives Hildy much more mo in PA than she would have had. (Again, no way the DNC is supporting re-dos but for Hildy’s margins in TX and OH.)
