>>Obama does transcend race; he has not run as a candidate of minority grievance; his vision of America is unmistakably post-racial.<<
Couldn’t the same be said of virtually every other candidate?
Actually, I’d say that Obama’s campaign makes more explicit references to “race” than any other candidate’s campaign.
A question: Does Hillary Clinton transcend GENDER? Is her “vision of America” the most “post-gender” of all the candidates?
Regards,
If he does it all (and I'm not even sure what that line means) he does it not by being anything in particular, but by not being anything in particular.
He doesn't have authority to speak about race because he's black, because he isn't really black. He's actually not-quite-black and not-quite-white. What authority to speak to race does that give him?
And yet, for being nothing in particular, he is considered "transcendent."
In this is the Obama "magic." He's an apparation, and so people see in him whatever they wish. And he encourages them to.
...trans.....gender....
Almost...

Anybody tell Michelle this?
Exactly. I think the last presidential candidate who ran specifically as "The White Guy" was probably David Duke. You're supposed to run as an American. Jesse Jackson couldn't pull that off, but perhaps Obama has (but see next paragraph). I can't praise him for it, however, because it's really the least thing I could expect.
However, his wife has not transcended race. She is a huge bigot. And Obama's church is openly racist. And a great deal of his support is thinly veiled White Liberal Guilt. So, even the notion that maybe Obama isn't running as "The Black Guy" is questionable.
If any one thing brings the great hope full of dope it will be that witch of a wife of his.
The thought of HER being first lady will give even the Obama maniacs pause.
Would you prefer translucent?
You said it (so I don't need to; glad I read yours first).
Forward; to the future. The past is behind us !
Does that sound a little like one sided rules for the game?
‘zackly.
Maybe my memory is wrong, but wasn’t the famous daisy ad a Goldwater ad?
He says it was Johnson’s, but I think he is wrong.
ANy oldtimers here?
Interesting as well; that Obama's wife Michele proudly sees America 'through a glass darkly'. (Might Obama simply wear special 'contacts' in public?)
Think Obama, is less a 'uniter' of or for, America. Rather, he seems to be offering what is more a personal/spiritual 'redemption'to those in need. He is the Guru whereby he calls people to imagine what in truth, is their own vision of unity. And the unity induced experience that arises is neither practical nor political; it is personal; esoteric. . .and invites not a unity - not a 'collective' vision. And from here the divisive begins again.
Bottom line. . .Guru's walking the political path; take a dangerous path. Moreso, for those following them.
The ‘Daisy’ ad was cast for Barry Goldwater.
I am unclear re your post. Was it made by Goldwater or Johnson. I think Goldwater people made the ad.
Guess I best go visit google.
