A jury has found Briana Waters guilty of two counts of arson in the 2001 burning of the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture by members of the Earth Liberation Front.....Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Bartlett says the case was a success now that more than a dozen people involved have been brought to justice.
"I think it sends an incredibly strong message, and that is, when you choose to become involved in these types of eco-terrorist activities, you may get away for awhile, but eventually...we'll track you down and you will be held accountable," said Bartlett,
The 32-year-old from Oakland, Calif., would face a mandatory minimum 35 years in prison

woohooooooo ping to WA freepers
We’ll see what she actually gets for a sentence.
He also said one factor that played into the decision was what would happen to Waters’ three-year-old daughter. One of the charges the jury deadlocked on would have brought a mandatory 30-year sentence.
The verdict has certainly proved emotional as well for Waters’ friends and family.
“This person has been convicted of a crime she didn’t commit.
If I’m reading the article correctly, that would be on all counts. Three of the charges the jury was deadlocked on.
The sob should get the death penalty.
That's whatcha call a "rhetorical question," right?
Dims don't denounce their voters...
Maybe she could rat out a half dozen other eco-terrorists and get 5 to 10 off with enviromentally friendly behavior, of course.
when i lived in durango, colorado, i went to the f.b.i. with information about the vail terrorist incident (c. $20 million in damage). the f.b.i. gave me the runaround because what i told them involved heresay from my roommate about another individual i used to work with. my roommate told me he was bragging about participating in the incident. nothing, at the time, came of it. the individual, john (something erruther) became a target of an f.b.i. investigation. nothing came of it -except him being shoved out of town. sometimes patience pays off. hopefully, john will pay his dues.
that’s terrible. After the Street of Dreams fires, I noticed the police and fire dept couldn’t say it enough that there was NO evidence that ELF was responsible for the fires. uh huh. but it had their M.O. all over it.
EXACTLY! what the heck is she thinking? if she just got caught up in the moment....well...save your own a$$ for God’s sake. if she’s that stupid, then maybe her child is better off with someone else.
No evidence? There was a sheet flying on a fence with ELF written right on it. I saw the thing.
“3 year old daughter”....well....isn’t that special....she had the baby AFTER the incident....and someone thinks that should be taken into consideration???? Actions have consequences!
Composting toilet; no toilet paper; no running water; just a rain barrel. No heating or air conditioning. Natural lighting...south facing bars.
We can figure out her menu later, but it should be as organically vegan as possible, and be mostly raised by her; and eaten raw.
No gardening, no eating. Use rocks, and sticks that died a natural death, to make her tools.
If that is what she thinks is supposed to be good enough for us, then she should feel pleased at our enlightened generosity.
Great news! Thank you for posting :-)
If you want to be a mother, don’t be a terrorist....pretty simple, right? It “should” have been simple for the jury.
A message needs to be sent....don’t have children thinking that they will serve as a universal ‘get out of jail free’ card.
AppleGate, you are very funny.
Guilty!
Oh, but it does. Remember that woman who was involved in bomb making in the 60's who settled in Wisconsin and had a family, lived in a nice house, married to a rich guy. When she was caught, people like Vanessa Redgrave came to her defense, saying she's a good mother, involved in all sorts of left-wing do-gooder causes all these years. She got off very lightly.
