I agree with you. Noticed on the radio the AP reports every 15 minutes or half hour updates are read by everyone. The economy is terrible, everything is falling apart, the dow jones is going to be terrible. However, at the end of the day, the Dow is up and statistics are look good. AP is the problem.

Exactly. They’re all “wooooeee is meeeeee” and we’re looking at each other saying “huh?”

Thank you so much for the Dose. Hope you and Dad are doing OK. It is so hard to have strangers working around your land. Very upsetting.

What a wonderful gesture to Cpl Buckles. He most certainly does not look 107! What a thrill for him to get all this attention.

The photo of the day is adorable. I hope that lady gets a copy of it.

Thanks for the Dose, snugs. I am sure your new refurbished digs will be very nice.

That footage was TOO cute!

I didn’t get away fast enough, though. I saw.....

.....THE BEAST! Just for a second. Ugh!

Eleanor I have been thinking of you & the incredible mess & pressure you are experiencing with the repairs etc. If you could just be there all the time.. but you must be at work. How is your dad handling it all?

Thanks for the Dose.. I didn’t realize we were down to one WW1 vet in US - but it is remarkable we even have that. How many others are there world wide, I wonder.

Condi & the other lady both in attractive off white suits. She has a great wardrobe & wears it well.

Appreciate all your work here for the Dose when you have a lot of other things occupying your time/attention now

That article about talking oneself into a resession is interesting as it is something that I have been saying for several months now that this is what I feel is happening.

We had storm damage on the roof which caused water to come into the house and damaged the ceilings in the bathroom and the landing area upstairs.

These 2 ceilings have been replaced and the insurance also agreed to replace the wall paper and the paint that was also affected in the middle bedroom because the water came in over the door between the bedroom and landing.

They are replacing all the wall paper and painting the door in the bedroom. The same for the bathroom. Because the paper was also damaged in the landing that is also being replaced and as the landing, stairwell and entrance hall downstairs are classed as one room the paper is being replaced in that entire area.

Here was the storm damage on the roof. A friend of mine climbed up on the scaffold when it is up for the roofer to do the quote for the insurance company to see if he could see the damage and this is the photo he took.

This is the damage inside

In addition to this problem the outside wall of the bathroom and the kitchen has been very wet and damp due to to guttering not fitting and more water has come down the side of the house then via the guttering. Also when I forget and leave the water heater on and it overheats that water also comes down the side of the house. This has caused plaster damage in the bathroom, a friend of ours had a go at patching it a couple of years ago but it really did not work.

Here is the problem caused by plaster rotting in the bathroom

This is where our friend tried to repair the damage

Obviously sorting out this wall was not covered by the insurance but they could not do the work that was covered by the insurance until this back wall was sorted. The end of the day the company doing the work agreed to repair the wall for material cost only as they were getting the labour paid for the main work. I had to pay this material cost which is about 100 dollars.

Here is the after pictures.

I am not sure if this is the case in the US but certainly in Britain the housing market was overvalued and a lot of the drop now is really the prices naturally adjusting itself.

No one was hurt but we had loads of water in the house which caused major ceiling damage in the bathroom, slight damage to the upstair landing ceiling and paper to peel in various places.

Rather selfish but in some ways better I am out of the way during the day. The workmen are very good and do clean up the best they can after them each day. They even cleaned the wash basin and bath for me after taking down the ceiling.

The storm damage was last year but took till now to sort as I could not find a roofer to give me a quote in the end I went back to the insurance company and asked them to nominate someone. After that it happened very quickly and the quote, approval from insurance company and roof repairs were done within 2 weeks now is the pain of the inside decorating including replacing 2 ceilings.
