I think you’ve got a point there, but I would like to explain something in case you’re not up to speed on these reservations.
As I understand it, the poverty rate was quite widespread on these reservations prior to gaming. I signed on to allow them to develop gambling income as a quick fix to the long term problem. Even that may have been a mistake.
As soon as the money started flowing into the tribes, it started flowing out to politicians. And there’s the rub. We’re talking big money. The reservations just got another shot in the arm with increased allowances to expand their casinos.
What looked to be something that would address the problems on Indian reservations, has turned out to be something that will in the long run be quite problematic IMO.
