(IsraelNN.com) New York led the list of anti-Jewish attacks, with 351 incidents, a 23% increase compared to last year, according to The Anti-Defamation League's annual audit report released Wednesday.
The audit tracks anti-Semitic incidents in 40 states and the District of Columbia. Other states with topping the list included New Jersey, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
Anti-Jewish incidents increased in Colorado in 2007 for the first time in three years, ranking eighth in the nation for anti-Semitic activity.
More Jews, more incidents.
And New York tops all states in the number of Muslim immigrants. Hmmmmmm...
I was thinking more on the lines that New York has a large population of another particular group.
Naturally, it would be defamitory to mention what ethnic/religious groups were committing the incidents.
More Jews = more targets More Muslims = more perps
I doubt there has been a 23% INCREASE in the Jewish population of NYC. However, I’m sure there has been a significant increase in Muslims there though....
In other breaking news:
"More Eskimos Died in Alaska Last Year Than in All of Africa"
In small samples, small changes in number result in large changes in percentage.
A city whose mugging rate went from one mugging in 2006 to two muggings in 2007 has a 100% increase in the mugging rate.
There has been a dramatic increase in the number of Modern Orthodox and Hasidic Orthodox Jews in NYC over the past 10-20 years.
A lot of older, secularized Jews who never wore a kippah or payess or tzitzit around the streets of NYC have died, while Modern Orthodox (who wear the kippah and often visible tzitzit) and Hasidic Orthodox (who usually wear the old-style tailored black suits and fedoras) have surged in number as these families typically have 5-8 children.
It's an extremely noticeable trend. In the 80s you would not see young Hasidim on the subway passing out pamphlets trying to convince secular Jews to return to the Torah - now you see it quite frequently.
A real change in visibility.
