Hillary's hidden tax returns harm Barry and the Dems in November
Red State ^ | March 06, 2008 | by Mark Kilmer

Let's hear it for John McCain! Check it out:

"In the face of her unwillingness to release her tax returns, Hillary Clinton has made the false case in this campaign that she is more electable because she has been fully vetted," the memo stated. "When it comes to her personal finances, Senator Clinton’s refusal to release her taxes returns denies the media and the American people the opportunity to even begin that process."

And the memo is right. And the memo comes from Camp Barry.

David Axelrod, the Obama campaign's chief strategist, also said in a conference call with reporters Wednesday that Clinton has a history of non-disclosure and is the least-vetted candidate in the presidential race.

(Hillary's peeps, Howard Wolfson really, has said that she'd release them on April 15. This was on ABC's This Week, Sunday.)

But after this is over, as I've posited, the new-inevitable will be so: McCain will face Barry anyway. So why does this matter?

Just do please Read More…

The Democrats are doing the internecine warfare thaang. They're spending money, bringing up issues, and all for every charge there will be a countercharge. (A tit for a tat, rat-a-tat-a-tat.)

No tax returns from Hillary, and no Rezco answers from Barry. This is going to drag into Pennsylvania on April 22nd, where Fast Eddie Rendell is going to be the energetic, out-of-control bundle of slime and smear that he's been since he controlled the wards in Philadelphia.

And this petty image from to top of the Dem Party will trickle-down, ('T is one of my favorite expressions.) Soon, Nancy and her Dem Congress will be perceived as negative purveyors of petty politics. (There's nothing Nancy and friends can do to refute the image, of course, as it fits. It just needs a better national projector, and this Dem nominating contest might just do it.

This should be interesting. 'T is a good time to have a straight-talking national hero on the top of the ticket.

I can’t imagine that there is anything particularly enlightening in her tax returns other than that she and Bill made a boatload of money.

It’s a sucker play. Her tax returns will show large donations to highly sympathetic charities.

Obama should have instead asked her about her involvement in the 1993 Branch Davidian church burning while she was campaigning in Texas prior to Tuesday.

Ask her if she’d go to war over Kovoso’s “status.”

Ask her if she’d fight al Qaeda in Iraq.

Ask her who hired Craig Livingstone.

Ask her why she fired the whole White House Travel Office.

Ask her if Ira Magaziner will be involved in her new Healthcare plan.

Ask her about Harold Ickes, Terry McAuliffe, and Sidney Blumenthal.

Ask her why convicted thief Sandy Berger is on her campaign payroll.

...But don’t ask her about her tax returns...that’s a setup. She’s going to milk the attention and then GLEEFULLY release them.

Good point, but Mr. Straight Talk had better get some dough to pay the teevee bill, or they’re gonna turn off his mike.

So far, he’s sent out pleas to the only mailing list he seems to have (conservatives), but wouldn’t you know it, they just aren’t that willing to pony up. Probably saving up for those higher energy bills, once his carbon caps kick in. Or those increased property taxes, to pay for hospitals overrun with illegals.

He can always buy mailing lists from La Raza and from the DNC; that might help a little.

But... tell me, where is he going to get that “moderate” mailing list? Is there even such a thing?

And if located, just how much are "moderates", who shift from side to side, going to give? You have to be passionate about something to start forking over significant bucks.

Maybe she's afraid that after bragging about her 35 years of "public service," voters might be dismayed that Hillary and her "husband" have parlayed that service into seven-figure incomes. The politics of envy has always been a democrat platform issue.

Yes, that IS the point, isn’t it?

Moderates may propel you into the nomination... if you can find enough to get off their TV chair and vote.

But contribute? Nah... by definition, they’re not passionate about your candidacy. An enthusiastic conservative will send you that $250. A “moderate” will rather put it down on a new bigscreen teevee so he can watch you run in 60” HD glory.

This may be silly because she may have released her returns before November.

Watch her release her 2007 return when it’s prepared and it shows no questionable income. Then she’ll refuse to release any more years by saying something like “enough is never enough with the press” and they’ll just being mean to her. They’ve had plenty of time to arrange their 2007 income so that nothing shows up. I bet we’ll never see the “meaty” years when her and Bill’s net worth skyrocketed.

That’s true, but if he can’t get the message out, it’s irrelevant.

His opponent will frame John McCain as whatever they want him to be; if he can’t fund his own message more strongly, he’s toast.

Do you really believe the author of this article believes that McCain is a "straight talking, national hero?"

IMHO, McCain is neither straight talking, nor a "national hero".
