Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) kicks off his general-election campaign trailing both potential Democratic nominees in hypothetical matchups, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) leads McCain, who captured the delegates needed to claim the Republican nomination Tuesday night, by 12 percentage points among all adults in the poll; Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) holds a six-point lead over the GOP nominee. Both Democrats are buoyed by moderates and independents when going head to head with McCain and benefit from sustained negative public assessments of President Bush and the war in Iraq.

A pitiful 5.2M in cash... and a humiliating 5.5M in debt (!!!).
What was that we've been hearing all throughout this very site, these past few weeks, about this "exciting new electoral coalition of moderate Democrats, independents and Hispanics," all of 'em just dying, just friggin' DYING for the opportunity to sweep Juan McCain into the highest elected office in all the land...? ;)
Ping!

Great summary of McLame,
“a cheep imitation of a liberal”.
Good work there, KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
The cause is the lies done on a daily basis by the left-wing Nazi media who are supporters and may even be members of al-Qaeda.
The media is scum!
Can't have it both ways, people. ;)
The real player in the final race is going to be whether the GOP is willing to take off the kidd gloves and fight for a victory, and that means calling out the empty suit or the spend-master. No one has called either of them on the cost of their programs, nor have they done objective examinations of national healthcare. The GOP needs to grow a pair and take the fight to the trenches and give up this PC tact that we’ll win ‘cause we’re the nice guys.
I don’t like him either, Kent. Just pointing out how they conduct their polls.
Maybe it would be simpler for you to simply link to the applicable DU thread of some new poll cheering on the dem candiate? Meanwhile,

The Rasmussen Reports
Looking to the general election, John McCain has a slight lead over both Democrats. McCain now leads Obama 48% to 43% and Clinton 46% to 45%
Nationally, McCain is viewed favorably by 52% and unfavorably by 45%. Obamas numbers have slipped a bit recently and he is now viewed favorably by 50% of likely voters nationwide, unfavorably by 48%. Clinton earns positive reviews from 49% of Likely Voters nationwide and negative assessments from 50%
I don't like McCain. I think Kent's characterization is exactly right. But don't fudge the reality here: McCain could come out with far more electoral votes than Bush had in 2004; or, if he melts down, it's possible for many of those states to slip away and for him to lose by a very large EV margin.
You gotta give 'em that.
Why don’t you just go ahead and vote for Hilabama?
The one most anxious and willing to peddle his sorry, treasonous hinder (and our nation's security!) to Vicente Fox for a moist, wadded handful of pesos IS, for all practical intents, a Dem candidate.
Some are smart enough (and conservative enough) to be able to discern that much, unaided.
Meanwhile: check out Post #2. Last month alone, Hillary raised 35M, and Obama raised a staggering 50M during the same period. During that same stretch: Juan only managed to scratch out the meager amount you see, above.
In the REAL world of electoral politics: the most reliable barometer of any given candidate's overall level of support, pre-election, is how much $$$ people are willing to donate to them. Oopsie.
Good enough. ;)
See #16. ;)
Stay classy, Team Juan! You're silver tongues and sweet, seductive ways are your anointed candidate's secret weapon, gathering support-wise!
*snort*
You are campaigning for Clinton-Obama why, exactly?
