To the GOP's self-righteous Purists

...

If there's a single thread that runs through the e-mails I receive from peevish Republicans, it's that none of the current candidates possesses the conservative purity of Ronald Reagan. One could almost get the idea that Dutch was betrayed by Pontius Pilate and crucified on Calvary. But that wasn't exactly the case. The fact of the matter is that Gov. Reagan gave Gov. Jerry Brown a run for his money – or should I say our money? – when it came to raising taxes here in California. But, in spite of the additional revenue, he was responsible in large part for the streets of our cities being turned into public latrines by the unwashed, the unwanted and the insane when, to save a few bucks, he oversaw the closing of California's mental hospitals. He also signed the nation's most liberal abortion bill. Although he had a change of heart a scant six months later, one never hears him condemned for flip-flopping ...

...

What truly confounds me are those cuckoos who would prefer to see such socialists as Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama win the election than to sully themselves by voting for a Republican who was only their second or third or even fourth choice. To them I say, before proving that you place your own ego gratification above what's best for America, keep in mind that most of the Supreme Court justices are in their 70s or even, in the case of John Paul Stevens, fast approaching 90. Do you really want one of those two Democrats stacking the Court for the foreseeable future? Presidents come and go, but justices go on seemingly forever. Kennedy and Scalia have been on the bench since Reagan put them there. Stevens, for heaven's sake, was appointed during the ...

“And what happens next. The ‘rats take complete control. Brilliant!!!!”

They already have complete control. What happens next is that a real opposition arises, once the useless Republican Party and its elites are out of the way.

I can't believe that you would sit there and admonish at a navyvet who defends our constitution and bill of rights? Even they have a right to vote for who they want, whether we agree or not.

no way am I going to let that give Hillary or Obama the white house.

AS long as McCain knows there are people like you, he will not pick a conservative VP.

We have to be able to vote FOR something. If we are merely voting against something, then we are going to lose not only the election, but our dignity and our principles.

McCain ain't getting my support until he gives me something to support.

OK, so McCain is trending down at a 65% ACU conservative rating. Why don’t you take a look at Hillary or Osamabama’s ACU ratings? I guarantee you that even 65% looks darn good from there!

“...admonish at a navyvet ...” should have read “... admonish a navyvet ...”

First off, because if Team McCain claims such a thing

See link, previous.

they're wrong.

Then Team McCain seriously needs to re-think its collective approach, re: swaying others toward their own point of view. As demonstrated earlier, their current tactic of tantruming all over the FR boards on a daily basis and referring to any/everyone disagreeing with them as "purists" and " Ol' Juan's desperately gonna need in order to be even remotely competitive vs. Obama in the months to come.

... or, failing that: y'all can just go right on whizzing this election down your pantslegs. I sleep just as easily, either way.

"Conservatives who refuse to vote for McCain need to read this article."

Oh, yes sir, Master! Tell us that we're worthless ("lazy," "unskilled,"...), and give our jobs to the anti-American nations that you fell in love with during your vacations! Destroy our families with your "social programs" and "education!" Insult our fighting men with feminist propaganda! Appease our enemies! Hate us for existing and complain about "overpopulation!" Your existence is so much more worthy.

We'll pay homage to those good deeds by voting for one of the two "choices" you gave us.

I hope oil goes to $200 per barrel, and the dollar to parity with the yuan!

It has nothing to do with fear for me. It's a matter of honor and respect for the men & women of our armed forces (and the people back home who love & support them).

I also refuse to allow all conservative gains made in the past 30 years to be flushed down the crapper just because I'm personally offended by our winning nominee. We're at war within our country every bit as much as we are abroad, and that's what makes McCain such a tough pill to swallow.

Am I correct in assuming that your name means “Navy Vet”? If so, I’d call you an embarrassment to the military for being willing to let Hillary or Osamabama become Commander in Chief.

That is lower than low. You McCainiacs are really insulting!

To: Reagan Man
President Reagan’s policies in the 1980`s won the Cold War, dismantled the Soviet Empire and the communist Eastern Bloc, freeing some 500 million people from totalitarian rule; revived a battered US economy from the worst conditions since the Great Depression; rebuilt the US military; cut federal income taxes 25% across the board; reduced the top tax rates from 70% to 28%; reduced welfare state and non-defense discreationary expenditures; and reduced federal regulations like no Prez before or since. Reagan`s leadership was extraordinary, winning two historic elections and uniting America behind common goals. In the 1980`s Reagan confronted liberalism head on, fought it to a standstill and halted America’s march towards Euro-socialism.

Ah, them were the days.

When Reagan came into office, the Air National Guards of many states were flying worn out F-4Cs. By the time he left office the same Tactical Fighter Groups were flying at least F-16As and some had already received F-16Cs. The investment paid off during Desert Storm and now in Iraq and Afghanistan. I shudder thinking about the Carter years. Nightmares. Trembles. Cold sweat.
