I recived an email from John McCain's fundraisers today, here is the message and response from me.
Dear Friend,
Last night, we did it. We won the Republican nomination for President. It was a long, up and down journey, but we worked hard, spoke honestly to the American people, and our steadfast determination has paid off. As we come to the end of our party's primary contest, we begin what will certainly be a spirited and hard-fought campaign against the Democratic nominee. In November, Americans will have a clear choice to make. And I intend to fight as hard as I can to make it very clear that I am the candidate with the experience and leadership to serve as our commander in chief from day one. My friends, I write to you today because I know we have a great challenge ahead of us. This campaign will be more expensive than any other in our history and I ask you today to support my campaign by making a generous contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500 or $1,000. As president, I intend to reduce the size of the federal government, reduce your tax burden and win the war against Islamic extremists. My Democratic opponents will increase the size of the federal government, raise your taxes and withdraw our troops from the front lines based on an arbitrary timeline.
I have said before that this election will be about big things, not small things. And as president, I will make the hard but necessary decisions to lead our country in solving our greatest challenges. Today, we must unite as we face either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in November. I ask that you join me today and make a financial commitment to help our campaign replenish our resources.
I thank you for your support and look forward to the campaign that lies ahead of us. Sincerely,
John McCain P.S. My friends, now that I have secured enough delegates to be the Republican nominee for president, I ask that you support my campaign by making a contribution right away to replenish our campaign funds. As we end our primary contest and begin what will be a competitive general election against the Democratic nominee, I stand ready to lead our nation as we face great challenges, and it is my hope that you will join my campaign today. Thank you.
John McCain.

My Response:
Dear Whomever, John will have to prove himself when/if he get's elected.
Until that point he may get my vote but as a conservative he needs to convey a that message to convince his base and myself.
In the past he has shown many attributes that indicate Mr. McCain is not conservative.
The jury is out, no matter how heinous the alternatives I will withhold my support for him.
Until Mr. McCain convinces me otherwise I will be sitting on the side
As a member of the Republican party since I was able to vote (1978) and active in the conservative movement (for many years) you need to think about it what this means to the Party and Mr. NcCain.
Member of FReerepublic since 1998.

The only time I've seen these Congresscritters grow one was when a Dem was President.
Remember how happy we were when we gained the Presidency and the Congress?
Things seemed to worked better with a split of the power.
Did you register with GOP.com at any time in the last few years? They may be sharing their list with the McCain campaign.
I dumped it in my spam filter...
No, the only political connections have been with the Thompson site and draftfredthompson.com
The latter could be the missing link or in this case the probable one.
Your HERE is not a link, please post.
Very sad but true. I have little trust for a milktoast GOP in the Senate but even less for them with a RINO anti-conservative flying air cover.
If you're forever marching to the left, it hardly matters who was leading the parade or whether it was at slow-march or quickstep.
From here is what I figured. I don't use that email address for official campaign stuff.
I try and keep the Meatspace me and the Cyberspace me from running over each other.
Good point, we're really screwed aren't we?
Be that as it may, where do we go from here.
Luckily we some time to figure out a game plan.
A joint effort of the part of all conservatives is needed, suck it up and vote for the lesser of two evils or find a third party candidate to rally behind and send the GOP a message.
Maybe we need a thread to discuss it.
I have been receiving emails from him the last 4 or 5 years and I have no idea how I got on his list in the first place. I told him way back then that I would not be supporting him for anything at anytime.
We find ourselves in this position because there were so many supposed “candidates” in the Republican primaries, and then, too, the MSM “endorsed” McCain. I wonder if there were any there strategically designed to split the vote and set McCain up handsomely for the nomination. - I’ll have to sleep on it, too.
Copy that, one has to wonder why the conservative candidates were pushed aside and now we have the #1 RINO running for President.
Pretty strange huh?
It makes one wonder.....
Even the people most affected by the coming higher taxes knew that. This is the first election year I can remember where the Republican candidates failed to exceed the Rat candidates in donations. But a champion will emerge, and those who will pay the most in taxes will also pay to support someone worthy of being supported financially in the next Presidential election. Right now, I'd rather see them judiciously contribute to those in Congress who would be the bulwark against Rat efforts to screw with those citizens who provide the jobs that the rest of us need.
