"California courts have held that under provisions in the Education Code, parents do not have a constitutional right to homeschool their children." This one line says it all. The Gov't will let Parents keep financial responsibility for their offspring but it will control their development. This is as Orwellian as it gets IMO.

California law has long been one of the freest in the nation for home educators as long as they registered as if they are a private school by filing form R-4 in October. What I don't know is if this family filed that paperwork, because the laws governing them as individuals are very different than the laws for private schools.
This whole thing could be a red herring.
