California law has long been one of the freest in the nation for home educators as long as they registered as if they are a private school by filing form R-4 in October. What I don't know is if this family filed that paperwork, because the laws governing them as individuals are very different than the laws for private schools.

This whole thing could be a red herring.

Quite likely since the reporting isn't even accurate.

I suspect they zeroes in on the worst, morally tainted, abusive, out-of-legal-compliance family they could find, in order to make this sweeping ruling affecting 10’s of thousands of legitimate Homeschooling families.
