Brazile: Howard Dean And Other Party Leaders Should Be Prepared To Step In By Greg Sargent - March 5, 2008, 9:22AM

Despite Hillary's big wins in Ohio and Texas last night, some super-delegates are already suggesting that a continued contest risks damaging the party and are calling on Howard Dean and other party leaders to be ready to intervene should the race get dirtier:

"Despite Obama's impressive victories in February, Clinton's comeback is based on sowing political seeds of doubt," said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist and one of nearly 800 party leaders known as superdelegates for their ability to determine the nomination. "In order to clinch the nomination, he must anticipate the worst attacks ever."...

Some superdelegates are bracing themselves to intervene on Obama's behalf if necessary.

"If these attacks are contrasts based on policy differences, there is no need to stop the race or halt the debate," Brazile said. "But, if this is more division, more diversion from the issues and more of the same politics of personal destruction, chairman Dean and other should be on standby."

Consider that a harbinger of what we're likely to hear from other super-delegates if the race gets uglier without significantly altering the underlying pledged-delegate imbalance between the two candidates.

And she is winning these races while not putting out anything of any importance to America-— no issues, no vision, no plan (other than the obvious, well known socialism) — nothing for America. And the kool-aid drinkers just keep voting for these criminal pols.

I think the point was that they don’t want those seeds planted in another Democrat’s yard. Hence the comments about policy differences vs. personal attacks.

I agree totally. There are Dems who won’t vote for a woman (well at least not Hillary), and Dems who won’t vote for a black man. All those stay at homes means Republican advantage. Assuming of course, more than 75 of us show up to vote for McQueeg...

I want to see what Obama’s going to bring to this fight. Has he got any stones? Or is he going to wither up and die when she unleashes hell on him?

I think it’s interesting to consider Dem leaders like Durbin, Kennedys (Teddy and Caroline) as well as Kerry, Richardson, ... who have endorsed and supported Obama.

These turkeys have to be sweating in their boots because if Hillary is nominated and/or elected, with her 900 FBI files on them, their political lives are over! She won’t EVER forget what they did.

The last thing the Democrat Party power structure wants is a colored person in any real position of power.

Correct. Which is why conservative Republicans should be pushing Obama, not Hillary.

Hillary can and WILL heal the wounds INSTANTLY between her faction and the Obama faction by selecting him for VP.

Limbaugh and other talk show hosts will be sorry they didn't help stop Hillary when they had the chance.

McCain doesn't have the stones to do what will be absolutely necessary to defeat a Hillary/Obama ticket.

I am even more depressed today than I was the day Romney dropped out, and McCain became the defacto GOP presidential nominee.

I wish I could go into a trance for the next eight months so I wouldn't have to watch this slow train wreck of the GOP.

Especially when it could have been prevented by some logical, pragmatic thinking on the part of conservative Republicans.

Time will tell, but I have to disagree with you. JFK took LBJ on the ticket even after Johnson's people brought up JFK's Addison's disease at the convention. As JFK said at the time after he got the nomination, "VP means nothing."

Taking Obama on the ticket will unify the party and she will steamroll McCain in November. The Dem party base is energized and voting and contributing in record numbers.

The downside is that the Dems will be the only game in town and McCain will get very little coverage. The Dems divided will have huge momentum going into their convention....and coming out of it.

They _will_ be united despite what everybody thinks.

And... their momentum will squish McCain like an ant.

“For the moment, we have the makings of the perfect storm. Who knows how this will play out. Stand by.”

Coward Dean is going to have to deal with the MI and FLA primaries mess.

Hildabeast is going to demand that they be counted now more than ever and Osama Hussein Obama is going to demand a do-over.

How can they possibly have another primary and not let everyone vote again? Michigan is an open primary state and a do-over would have massive crossover, likely giving Osama Obama the win.
That would drive Hildabeast nuts because she won both states.
Now if they only let those that didn’t vote on a Republican ballot vote, Hildabeast would win again because a whole bunch of the Detroit RATS crossed over last time and voted for Mutt Romney!

Those RATS would be furious if they didn’t get to vote again when they were told the first vote wouldn’t count!

Whatever they do now the RATs are going to tear themselves to pieces!

The perfect storm is brewing and the RATS are going to drown.

The only reason these LW nitwits are endorsing Obama is that the ALL HATE HILLARY PERSONALLY. She is known to treat people like dirt, even other Dem Senators. Also the Clintons are a “dynasty” as are the Kennedys. I don’t think the Kennedys are thrilled with a group of inbred white trash trying to knock out THEIR “dynasty,” lol. “Dynasty, vs. Dynasty.” You gotta love it. While the REAL dynasty, the Bushes are readying more superior candidates for future races, Ya gotta love those Dems.

the party leaders will step in and the superdelegates will anoint Hillary as the nominee with Obama as the VP. And that will be an extremely tough ticket to beat.

EXACTLY!

Why in the freakin' world doesn't Limbaugh and other cross-over proponents see this.

Limbaugh thinks the Democrats will continue to fight each other all the way to November.

That will never happen.

All Hillary has to do is swallow her pride, and select Obama as VP ..... and all is forgiven.

The Obama supporters will secretly hope that Hillary gets ousted or impeached, so the "hope and change" candidate Obama can take over the Presidency.

This cross over stuff is nuts... with a capital "N".

Limbaugh will rue the day he urged conservatives to keep Hillary alive.

She should have been destroyed when we had the chance.
