Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), buoyed by important victories in the Democratic primaries in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island, on Wednesday offered some words of warning to conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, who had urged Republicans to vote for her as the presumptively easier Democrat to beat.
“Be careful what you wish for, Rush,” Clinton said on Fox News.
For the second time during this campaign season, the former first lady survived what many viewed as a potential knockout punch from frontrunning Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.). While Obama maintains a significant delegate lead, he was unable to seal the nominations Tuesday night, having to concede another two populous states to Clinton.
“By getting the most delegates, by having won twice as many states, by having a lead in the popular vote we feel as if we are on pace to get the nomination,” Obama said Wednesday morning in an appearance on the same network. “And it will take a little longer than would be true if we weren’t running against a Clinton, but we’re still going to end up getting it.”
However, instead of being able to focus on Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the newly crowned Republican nominee, Obama must now continue to expend his considerable resources on the Democratic primary.
The Clinton campaign is seeking to use the breathing room the former first lady was given in polling places in Texas, Ohio and Rhode Island to map out its “path to the presidency,” as a memo from strategists Harold Ickes and Mark Penn was labeled.

I voted for Obama in Wisconsin in order to kill Hillary. It should have worked sigh. Rush made a huge miscalculation.
Then they will kiss and make up, their supporters will go “oh, okay, if they can come together for the good of the country, so can we” and there you have it.
In the meantime, this has given both Rat candidates weeks and weeks of more free publicity and domination of the MSM and so on.

n Texas, Clinton won by approximately only 98,000 votes. There in Texas there was also a much smaller number of Republicans voting for McCain and Huckleby. It’s sure very reasonable to think that at least 98,000 Republicans crossed over in Texas.

Yes, but party bosses WILL pressure them to team up. That will be the price they each pay for getting the superdelegates to line up.
I agree with you. Why would one ever think that voting for evil is a good strategy? Makes absolutely no sense.

And what many people fail to realize is how powerful the power of suggestion is. People who would not have even considered doing such a thing may do it if it is not considered wacky. And it doesn’t take much to change momentum.

Look for a spiteful and vindictive President McCain to reign in those who dare call his immagration bill 'shamnesty' or conservative talk radio who didn't fall lock step behind him when he bacame the front-runner. Don't think so? He'll try it with an executive order if he could get away with it.
The chance to be the first woman VP? In an administration with a young newbie who won’t be able to push her around? And Bubba still gets to fly on Air Force 2?
She won’t pass it up. She’ll do it for “the good of the country.”
Clinton would need to win 59% of the delegates in the remaining 12 contests in order to overtake Sen. Obama's delegate lead.
If the upcoming 611 delegates at stake split 59/41 for Clinton -- 360 would go to Clinton and 251 would go to Obama -- netting Sen. Clinton 109 delegates. . . which would be enough to overcome Obama's current 106 delegate lead.
3. There are 611 delegates up for grabs in the remaining 12 contests
One important note is that Obama is heavily favored in Mississippi and NC, which have a total of 148 pledged delegates at stake or almost one third of the remaining outstanding. So if Obama pads his delegate count in these two states, Hillary would have to win the remaining states by even larger margins than 59%. A very tall order.
That means he would need to win 77% of all the remaining pledged delegates to hit the magic number of 2,024 to secure the nomination. That is highly unlikely due to the proportional delegate allocation rules in the Democratic Party.
Clinton would need to win 94% of all the remaining pledged delegates to hit the magic number of 2,024. (ABC News currently has her at 1449.)
So, clearly they both are going to be relying on superdelegates to secure the nomination.

That said, even if McCain couldn’t get paid media, he’s still pretty good at getting earned media.
And the more the Rat nominee is out there throwing stuff at him, the more McCain would be asked to respond. Plus McCain has the White House-—Bush would be glad to invite him to events and give him opportunities for media and fundraising that would go a long way.
All in all-—despite your excellent points, which I appreciate-—I continue to conclude that the Rush strategy was ill-advised on a number of fundamental levels.
Yes. You're believing the Mainstream Mediot spin that she "was dead" - in fact, her polling showed her closing the gap for more than a week. She was going to win Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island, GOP crossovers or not. That is the fact you're missing in your desire to bash Rush.
Look, think what you want of Rush - just don't assume your feelings have any basis in facts, because the results show otherwise.
Yes, just review the turn-out numbers for each party in the primaries.
