He didn’t know what was said on the stage when he made the statement, much less listening to Cunningham’s show.
It’s just poor campaigning on his part, in my opinion. If Hillary is the nominee, in order for McCain to win, he’ll have to do much, much better than he’s done so far as far as campaigning and alienating people. It’s almost as though he cannot help himself, but then I think he’s confident because his nomination has pretty much proven (at least in his mind) that conservatives are not necessary for him to win. I’m no McCain girl by any stretch but still; even GW knew strategery (haha) will get you everywhere.
