You need a permit (shall-issue, easy to get for the law-abiding) to carry a concealed pistol upon your person in Texas. Open carry of a pistol is illegal. Open carry of a long gun is permitted with the usual restrictions (can’t bring it into a school, court, prison, etc).

However, you may have a pistol or long gun (or as many as you wish) in your car and your home and your place of business without a permit or any government permission whatsoever.

Whoever said that CCW was illegal in Texas was an idiot and needs to be beaten by a gang of illegals chanting “What’s the frequency, Kenneth?”

My license lapsed years ago but my daughter and I plan to be licensed this summer. I stopped carrying a pistol in my car years ago because I thought it a violation to carry across city or county lines. Are you sure we can carry in a car without a license? thx.

A cop on “COPS” said it....I just remembered where I heard it. I was shocked because I thought Texas was very lenient with gun ownership.
