Rapper 'shocked' by daughter's killing
AP (via Yahoo Music) ^ | 03/01/08

The rap star Juvenile is "shocked and devastated" by the shooting death of his young daughter, the girl's mother and another child, his manager said Saturday.

The 32-year-old rapper is still trying to cope with the death of 4-year-old Jelani; her mother, 39-year-old Joy Deleston; and the woman's daughter Micaiah, 11, whose bodies were found Thursday night in their home, said manager Aubrey Francis.

"It really shocked him and devastated him to the point where I've never seen him before," Francis said. "Right now he is relaxing and trying to grasp everything of what has happened."

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. is being held in the DeKalb County jail, charged in the deaths of his mother — a Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy — and siblings at the home near Lawrenceville, outside Atlanta. He was arrested Friday.

Deleston brought a paternity lawsuit in 2004, claiming that Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was Jelani's father, Gwinnett County court records show. Both parties later agreed Juvenile was the father.

Juvenile, who is in New Orleans, had been making regular child support payments, Francis said.

In 1998, Juvenile released his third album, "400 Degreez," which sold 4 million copies. At one time he was part of the four-man group The Hotboyz, along with Lil Wayne, Young Turk and B.G.

Attorney Randy Kessler, who represented Juvenile in the paternity suit, said Saturday he had not talked with the rapper about the killings.

"Any time you have a situation like that, it's shocking," Kessler said.

Terrell was taken to jail in neighboring DeKalb County to avoid any potential conflict because Deleston worked for Gwinnett County, said Lawrenceville police spokeswoman Illana Spellman. She could not confirm Friday whether Deleston's service weapon was used.

Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against Terrell. A preliminary hearing will be set next week in Gwinnett County Superior Court, prosecutor Danny Porter said.

Defense attorney Lyle Porter did not return calls Friday and Saturday.

Rappers a joke.. they step and fetch for the upper middle class white teenagers.

No rap star will sell over 750k copies of an album tops without idiotic wiggers buying it and thumping down their suburban drags in their daddies escalades and BMW’s.

So they basically play to the stereotype whitie wants to make themselves rich, all the while claiming they are keeping it “real”.

Its beyond MORONIC.. and BET, MTV et all just gladly keep it going to line their own pockets as well... its beyond stupid.

I have no use for rap but this is a sad story regardless. Prayers for the victims.

This shows the sort of lifestyle promoted. For rap, it's actually low key...of course I worked with the absolute worst of the worst "juveniles" in South LA. Glad I moved and even happier I'm retired, Respect Us

Is this one of the most poorly written articles of all time, or is it just me?

Poorly written. I had to read it twice.

You lie with the dogs, you get fleas.

I'd do it if I have to

I'm packin my gauge, if I feel it
The glock, the gat, the nine, the heaters
See I be bustin caps like my amp be bustin speakers
So how do you figure that Big Boi be scared to blast ya
You 'posed to be quickest draw, but man, I hail em faster
1-2-3, you need to think about the future
Before I shoot your ass and dilute your blood with lead
From my hollow tips, I'll send you to an early grave

Even the most hard-talking gangsta rappers (and Juvenile isn't that kind of rapper to begin with) do not rhyme about murdering their own mothers.

Oh, so it's okay to shoot up people, just so it's not dey momma? What if someone else happens to live by another philosphy that says it is okay to shoot dey momma? This Juvenile character is part of the sub-culture that glorifies gang style violence. He couldn't find a better way to make a living?

“Just about the only subject among all MCs, gangsta or otherwise, that is sacrosanct and always treated with respect is one’s mother.”

I guess that’s what you’ve got if you don’t see your father or maybe even know who he is.

Actually, all of his most popular songs are about getting drunk/high and partying.

Here's the first news item I remember seeing about this guy (a good friend of mine used to live on the same street and actually witnessed the "icepick stripper chase"):

Juvenile Arrested For Aggravated Assault, Battery

Digg Newsvine

Cash Money rapper Juvenile has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault and three counts of simple battery after he allegedly threatened to shoot several women and chased them out of his home in Mandeville, Louisiana.

Mandeville Police Department's Lt. Thomas Breazeale confirmed to MTV News that officers were called to the scene at 4:45 a.m. (CT) on Thursday, July 20 in response to a 911 call placed by one of Juvenile's neighbors.

Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was arrested and booked on the eight counts, all misdemeanors, on Thursday. He was released after posting a $2,076 bond.

According to a statement issued by the police, the five female victims told officers on the scene that they were from New Orleans and that Juvenile picked them up to serve as dancers at his housewarming party.

While at Juvenile's residence, water began leaking from the kitchen ceiling, and the rapper discovered that it was caused by water that had overflowed from an upstairs tub after it had been left running, according to the statement.

The women claim that Juvenile became upset and believed that they were somehow responsible. He then became physically and verbally abusive toward the women, shoving three of them to the floor and threatening to shoot them with a gun, although he never actually brandished a firearm during the incident and arresting officers did not discover a gun in the house.

After threatening the women, Juvenile then allegedly armed himself with what appeared to be an icepick and chased them outside of the house. The females then fled to a neighboring home, the resident of which phoned the authorities.

The rapper faces up to six months or a $1,000 fine for each count of aggravated assault and an additional six months and a $500 fine on each count of simple battery. Juvenile is next scheduled to appear in a St. Tammany Parish courthouse on September 11 to answer the charges.

I doubt there exists a single hip hop track by a black MC in which the MC expresses a desire to kill his own mother

Thank you for providing us with an excellent example of a 'distinction without a difference.'

Congratulations.

He sings songs about killing other peoples relatives, and then is shocked when someone kills some of his relatives.

What an idiot.

When a culture embraces killing anyone, such as the business and romantic rivals that you suggest, life becomes less valued. It is just a matter of time until the unintended consequences pop-up, such as the highly respected mommas getting killed. If you really place your momma on a pedestal, don't be a worthless thug.

It isn't possible to explain this culture with reason and logic.

“Right now he is ( getting drunk/high and partying

Is that last part of the sentence ‘ebonics’?

Is the reporter ‘black’? Or just stupid and illiterate?

I’m thinking Mr Juvenile knows a bit more about this crime than his spokesman is letting on.

I’m at work so I couldn’t listen to that video “masterpiece” (/sarc). I would like to know what all those hand gestures mean. To me, it’s all gang symbols until I find out otherwise.

That was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. Got to turn it up later to hear what I missed. Give me The Beatles or Martina McBride ANY DAY.

Sorry for his loss.
Wonder how close to living the low class thug life he was and how close he brought it to his own home.

In a way, did he kill his own family?

Tragic loss for anyone though.

What is an ‘MC’?

One hears it used to refer to many black entertainers, but what does it stand for?
