CHANGING THE RULES AFTER THE GAME HAS STARTED. THANKS A LOT, RINO CRIST.

I am finding it hard to imagine a world where elected Republican leaders suck any more than they do now.

By the way, RINO Crist signed the bill that moved the primary up. The bill had bipartisan support. Now this lame wuss wants the taxpayers to fork over more $$ for another Democrat primary because the socialist party chooses not to count their own party members' votes.

How pathetic is that?

What...someone who endorsed McCain pandering to the Democrats? Never...I say, never. I refuse to believe it. Has McCain apologized to Florida and Michigan Democrats yet for the DNC? Oh yea that's right, he only apologizes for Republicans. Ugh. I'm pretty sure I could be more turned off by this crop of Republican "leaders"...I'm just not sure how? I try to say at least they aren't Hillary but then things like this.....

Actually I disagree with the tenor of this thread. If that is what the democrats want to do, hand them the rope and say go ahead. By the time they get around to it, Hillary will be dead, and the state might go for Obama. Furthermore, it means that it delays when the democrats can claim that it is all over and get on taking on McCain.

Like I said - it's their rope and if they want to hang themselves with it fine.

I thought Crist was crazy at first too. Now I think he might be crazy like a fox. Republicans might cross over en masse to vote for Hillary, obviating the selection of a Democratic candidate without the Superdelegates. The Democrats would have no choice but to accept (and seat) the results.

Can you imagine the pressure on Democratic Governor Granholm of (broke) Michigan? She would have no good options.

If nothing else, this puts pressure on Dean even if the idea is never accepted.

Hot air.
The governor can only sign or support a bill, he can’t write and pass it himself, and that takes time and a commitment by a majority of the overwhelmingly GOP Florida congress.

Personally, I think that he’s thinking of throwing a monkey wrench into one of the dem’s chances.

Our Gov. lives in "Charlie Land".

I have no idea where that land is or how it works, but we have the "Pee Wee Herman" of governors

(the rest of the choices, when he got elected, were even worse).

I agree - Let the lawsuits start flying - Dem vs. Dem
Give them a chance to fling more mud at each other, and blow a few more millions of dollars that will not be spent attacking the Republicans.

Florida is a closed primary state. I doubt they would reopen registration to allow Republicans to change their affiliation and crossover, since that would potentially allow Florida Republicans to vote twice.

I doubt they would either, but this would be an issue to be worked out in the bill authorizing a new primary.

In fact, I doubt the whole idea will go anywhere as actual legislation, but as a suggestion aired in public, it seems like a minefield for any Democrat - a minefield few Democrats will be allowed (by constituents or the press) to avoid.

Sorry, but in Florida Repubs cannot vote Dem, or visa-versa in any primary - ours are closed primaries. We can cross party lines in the General Election ONLY!

There were a few glitches in the southern counties (heavy dem areas) that gave ballots to Independent voters and told them to choose a party, but that was illegal and not normally allowed.

Then again, what's normal about a Dem?

“Every vote must count,” Crist said during the interview. “Every vote should count, and for the Republicans as well. They’re not counting half of ours.”

It sounds as though he's advocating an open primary the 2nd time around....or do you have another interpretation here?

Crist can advocate all he wants, however, the law states - our primaries are closed and always have been.

My point was that a 2nd primary would require enabling legislation — as long as we’re changing the rules in the middle of the game, why not go all the way?

This is a good move on the part of Gov. Crist. It will allow the fight between Hillary and Obama to go on beyond this week, regardless what happen to Ohio and Texas primaries. Think about the cash pile of Obama has now if he doesn’t have to spend them on campaigns fighting against Hillary. In 1996, Dole was broke for months ahead of the convention and allowed the dems to define him as some angry old man from the last generation not worthy to lead. The same will happen here with the dems having such a large cash advantage. It is better to have them to fight against each other, burning the cash, generating the animosity instead having them to fight the Reps. - not just the top ticket but everyone running this fall. Crist will come out good with this move as well, he will look fair and maintain his 70%+ approval ratings. And if Crist can cost the dems to go at each other with their 100 MM cash piles, that’s great news for John McCain.
