WASHINGTON, March 1, 2008 On what was described as a fine Navy, Marine Corps day, in New Orleans, Defense Department officials, servicemembers and distinguished guests gathered today to christen a tangible symbol of Americas mettle.
This is a special day for a magnificent ship that has a special place in the heart of every American, Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England said during the christening ceremony for USS New York. |

I fear what metals will be symbolically placed in future Northrup Grumman military projects.
If there is any justice there will be two cages perched atop the AEM/S system mast. One cage with the head of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and one empty cage that will be held in reserved for Osama bin Laden’s.
May the good Lord bless and protect her and all who sail with her.
Wasn’t there a ship built with steel from the the World Trade Center in her bow?
Yes, THIS one.
Thats the USS San Antonio.
I’m sorry. I did a google image search and this is what I got. I noticed the number was not correct. But I’m a land lubber, what do I know? My sincere apologies.
I think I’ll hit the abuse button.
Gordon England is embroiled in a scandal over the firing of a Pentagon islam expert.
Mr. England's bizzare statements in defense of Hesham Islam indicate that he and Mr. Islam are very, very close indeed. Our Navy Secretary is lead around on a leash by his Islamist "associate".
The New York I believe is the first to contain Steel from the towers. She’s been in the yard under construction for at least 2 possibly 3 years.
That’s the Battleship USS New York, named after the state. I think she survived 2 or 3 nuclear bomb tests.
No problem, I think its a great ‘ship’. No apologizes, I confuse Fords with Chevys.
That’s a question for the Navy. The City of Tucson is an attack submarine. At one time States were Battleships and major Cities were Cruisers.
Submarines were named after fish forever too.
