Buckley:
“There is, of course, the major digression of North Korea, which I suppose is the most hideous regime threatening the world, but it also has an atom bomb. So there you have an extraordinary congruity of things that we’re concerned about, but we can’t do anything about it.”

I disagree. NK depends on China and China depends on exports.
The whole issue with North Korea & China could be solved by Bush informing the Chicoms that unless & until they “get their dog(NK) back on the porch” not one container of their junk will be offloaded in San Pedro, CA or anywhere else in the Free World. It wouldn’t take more than a month before the Chicoms would “get the message!”
If you want to get a point across to Commies & Lefties, all you have to do is squeeze their wallets and they’ll squeal like pigs every time.

How do you say "blockade" in Korean and "embargo" in Chinese...

“Alan Greenspan sat there for seven years every Saturday and drooled over her along with a lot of other members of the collective.”

I found this interesting.

The kind of Wilsonianism that Bill Kristol advocates, I think is wrong for several points. Number one, it over-stretches our power. Number two, it takes insufficient account of the institutional requirements for genuine reform, to simply impose a constitution on Iraq or anybody else.

I have similarly come to the conclusion that the Iraq war, as run by the so-called "neo-cons" was an enormous mistake. It was horribly expensive, and it has put the exclamation point on the fact that our post-war (WWII) power has been derivative of the willingness of others to provide goods and services in exchange for pieces of paper covered with grey-green pictures of dead presidents.

It simply was not thought through, and we are seeing the results of that. One of the gifts of Buckley was thinking things through with the humility of someone who understood the transcendent truth of Our Lord.
