This is National Defense?
Freedom's Watch.org ^ | 2/29/07 | Bradley A. Blakeman

A premature withdrawal from Iraq, giving al Qaeda a huge victory and giving terrorists a base from which to attack America, Europe, and Israel. An end to developing a missile defense system to protect us from missile attack, and "deep cuts in our nuclear arsenal." Cutting billions of dollars in programs needed to modernize our Army so it remains the most powerful force on earth.

This is Senator Barack Obama's plan for a national "defense" - in his own words. Click here to view this video and then share it with your friends. We need to get out the word about Senator Obama's radical plan that would leave America less safe!

We've seen drastic reductions in our military capabilities from liberal administrations before - with disastrous results. In 1996, defense spending in America was fully 40% lower than in 1985 under Ronald Reagan. These cuts led to a loss of air and sea lift capability, reduced research and development in new technologies, and the delay or cancellation of critical modernization programs. As a result, when America was attacked in 2001, former Reagan Administration Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger said that defense cuts had been so severe that our capability to fight the War on Terror had been greatly diminished. We are still paying the price for that "holiday from history."

At a time when we face increasingly hostile rogue nations like Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela, which are actively seeking or supporting those who seek nuclear weapons to threaten the United States and its allies, it makes no sense to pursue a policy of disarmament. We must maintain a strong nuclear deterrent, including a robust arsenal and defense shield, and modernize our military to protect America.

Again, please forward this email to your friends and family, and let them hear from Senator Obama himself about his plans for our national defense. And invite them to join Freedom's Watch, a permanent voice fighting for mainstream conservative values. Speak up to encourage Senator Obama to change his position on national defense by calling his office at 202-224-2854. Don't allow liberals in Washington to degrade our military and debilitate our defenses.

I like the Rat line that says the money being spent in the war could be better spent here at home.

If there were no war that money shouldn’t be spent at all.

I viewed that clip a few nights ago.

My only words were, “My God...”

Baraq Husayn ibn Mahomet wants us drawn back to the “Hollow Army” days of the Carter years.

Wow, he should just say I will scrap the whole military. That is really something especially since we hit a target in space last week. He says he would not go after a star wars program? It already exists and works perfect.

Wait a minute! Money spent on National Defense IS spent here at home. DOD does not procure many weapons systems from foreign sources. The vast majority of DOD spending is for personnel, and while a large number may be deployed overseas, almost all of their pay and benefits stay right here in the US.

He will “cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending” AND he “will slow our development of future combat systems”
...

Senator Barack Obama is a danger to the future of the nation. Not just a liberal. The man is a menace wrapped in uplifting rhetoric.

Money well spent...especially if we stay the course.

Look at Kuwait!

Oh wait....no one hears a solitary peep about the successes there since we booted Saddam out of THAT particular country.

BINGO!

I’ve never heard a presidential candidate say anything like it- and since 9/11...it’s madness.

My point was not that the money was well spent or not. As for Kuwait that success is only sustained by the current fight in Iraq.

My point was the ridiculous DemocRAT assumption that if the cash weren't being spent on the war, a worthwhile cause in my estimation, it should be spent on Rat vote buying social programs.

It seems that most of the canidates this year are too eager to tell us how much they will punish us for voting for them, don’t it?

Got ya...and indeed you’re right.

I also love how the hypocrats say we can’t afford the war and then make the idiotic leap that we can therefore somehow suddenly afford all these social programs, sheerly because it’s not W’s doings...or the evil Dick Cheney’s.

Or that somehow had we not been in Iraq, Katrina would have somehow turned out better.

ObamaNATION of ISLAM actually said we could have repaired every bridge and every road in this country with the money spent on the liberation of Iraq.

It boggles the mind how stupid hypocrat liberals truly are! It just boggles the mind!
