PRINCE HARRY FIGHTS ON FRONTLINES IN AFGHANISTAN; 3 MONTH TOUR Thu Feb 28 2008 11:01:34 ET

**World Exclusive**

They're calling him "Harry the Hero!"

British Royal Prince Harry has been fighting in Afghanistan since late December -- and has been directly involved in gun battle, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The prince, a junior officer in the Blues and Royals, and third in line to the throne, has been a "magnificent soldier" and an "inspiration to all of Briton."

In another report I saw it was an Australian paper and a German magazine that first decided to run the story. I’m not sure that Drudge is the one point fingers at.

Kudos to the Prince, though. Good on ya.

What’s the over/under on the number of Harry threads today?

And your posting this here is different from Drudge’s posting...... how, exactly?

In Edward's defense, unfortunately Drudge's release has gotten this all over the place now.

I just saw a segment on Sky News about it and some of the main news websites are headlining it now.

Drudge sucks.

Amen to your comment.

The BBC now reporting story leaked to “an American web site”.

Let’s hope the Taliban don’t succeed in hurting him.

In the AP story:

Prince Harry has been serving on the front line in Afghanistan with the British Army, the Ministry of Defense said Thursday.

From the BBC:

The deployment was subject to a news blackout deal, but broke down when leaked by foreign media.

Is this the “Big War Story” we were supposed to get from UK?

But now he probably should be taken off the front. His presence could create a distraction. Along with a heightened risk.

Unless... say... he would make a hell of a bait for a most enormous trap... :-)

Hey, what's the big deal. The peon who sends their son or daughter to the front line doesn't get special treatment or dispensations.

While I don't wish anyone ill, perhaps if he is placing his fellow soldiers in harms' way, then he should get a different job. That may be special treatment, but then, that's not the fault of the General Issue Soldier.

A little overreaction. Do you feel the same way about the disclosure that McCain, Webb, Hunter, Joe Wilson, and others have sons serving in Iraq and Afghanistan? I think it is a good thing that the public knows that some of the political elites’ children are serving their nation and they should know it in real time.

From Fox News.

Harry, who is third in line to the throne, has been in Afghanistan since December. The story was leaked by an Australian magazine and a German newspaper. Dannatt said he was "very disappointed" that the story had leaked.

He wouldn’t be if they don’t know he is there. Now, everyone around him is in more danger because of a web master who feeds on gossip. Shame on Drudge.

Drudge didn't originate the story - he's quoting some Australian, and German papers.

I’d assume so. Drudge didn’t leak the story. In fact, he kept his mouth shut until the British Defense Ministry released the info.

Shhhh... you’re not supposed to have actually read what happened. You’re just supposed to overreact and blame the wrong person.

I agree with you.
Kings and Royal’s have lead men into battle for centuries, the prince is no longer a child but a man and should be in battle.

On MSNBC about an hour ago:

"The story was leaked by an Australian magazine and a German newspaper. Dannatt said he was "very disappointed" that the story had leaked. "Now that the story is in the public domain, the Chief of Defence Staff and I will take advice from the operational commanders about whether his deployment can continue," he added. "I now appeal to the media to restrain from attempting to report Prince Harry's every move and return to our understanding."

Don't think Drudge is to blame.

I guess now that the enemy knows Harry’s out there fighting against them, this’ll make them fight REALLY hard!

It doesn't hurt it at this point. I'm sure he posted it for discussion purposes. The toothpaste is out of the tube and it's not going back in.

Drudge didn't originate the story - he's quoting some Australian, and German papers.

Shame on whomever leaked it.
