And I further commend his Grandmother for doing the right thing by him. I always liked you Ma’am — hats and all.

Nothing we can’t see on TV or the internet. At least nothing worth spending the cash on. After all, all those “medieval buildings, the Tower of London”... all that stuff ISN’T American!

We left Europe’s fetid shores for a REASON! And with how they have treated us since the 1700’s, I see no reason to give Europe the favor of our tourism. None at all.

It is a shame that Americans bother with tourism outside this country when all you’d ever need is here, though.

“Nothing we can’t see on TV or the internet. At least nothing worth spending the cash on”

1)purely subjective - your opinion but its up to the individual owning the cash and spending it that should affect more than anything his willingness to do so. A free market thing - something highly valued on this site I believe.

“I see no reason to give Europe the favor of our tourism.”

Neither do I; pure self interest should dictate whether you vacation abroad as opposed to any duty of benevolence. Nobody owes anybody a living.

I could sneer at a whole number of things profiting from peoples tastes & preferences differing from my own - and there’s plenty of them. But I choose not to, because at the end of the day, each to their own.

Maybe I’m just too tolerant.

Drudge...in my humble opinion...broke a story, which wasn’t a story...and put lives in danger. I hold little respect for this kind of “headlining”. While I will admit to being a daily reader of Drudge for over six years...I will probably measure this immature move by Drudge...and probably halt my reading of the web page.

The truth is that over twenty major news organizations kept their mouth shut...out of respect of the situation. Drudge really doesn’t gain anything at all. DRAMATIC DEVELOPMENT? I’m still wondering what Drudge considers dramatic and how he measures anything.

We do very well out of American tourism thank you very much - and I doubt its anything to do with the weather. Now book that flight and come over.

My flight is already booked. We will arrive soon. Wanting to see several key sites. Cheers.

you still have to give Harry credit. He's on the short end of the royal family stick, last in line in a currently uninspiring family, atop a country that seems to be farther down the road to concession than we are. He could easily stay home and just party, the tabloids would love it. He's been fighting to serve in combat since he got his bars (pips?) and he's managed to get there despite family and goverment objections.

I nominate this as Post Of The Thread!

“He’s been fighting to serve in combat since he got his bars (pips?) and he’s managed to get there despite family and goverment objections.”

Nope, wrong. No family or government objections to his getting into combat. The Queen herself gave the orders to Prince Harry that he was being sent to Afghanistan. Andrew served in the Falklands. Charles commanded a minesweeper. The Queen served on the Home Front in WW2. Harry’s Grandfather and great grandfather served with distinction during WW’s 1 and 2.

How was your post not ‘Brit’ bashing. Aka Anti-Britism? A country farther down the road etc....You practice what you claim to preach against FRiend. Its easy to make a comment like that to get a few laughs from your fellow FReepers. I see it as opportunism.

Umm:

We've been reading about Harry not being allowed to go with his original team's deployment for most of the past year. This is a later, maybe abbreviated, tour done in secrecy.

The freaking ARMY didn't want him in a position that would be specifically targeted by the bad guys - endangering both he and his troops. Now that it is out he's coming home early and that's just got to p*** him off and probably his troopies as well.

Think I don't know how Harry feels? I spent over a year literally fighting my way out of SAC to gain assignment to Viet Nam, Catch 22 is a real thing to me. From there to the Army and leaving a trail of bruised toes behind.

I know JUST how he feels and my grandmother came from Wolverhampton, not Windsor.

Yes Andrew served honorably in the Falklands but not in a role that invited lunatic savages, on the ground and in his neighborhood, to target him as a ultra high priority target whose mere injury would inflict not just an embarrassing blow to the west, but to legitimate western royalty. If Andrew had been smoked it would have been a combat casualty of great moment and generalized back stiffening - not a targeted killing. (And both men deserve respect for their actions)

Yes, the queen told him he'd got orders for Afghanistan but not until they'd worked out a means to do it. I expect she was almost as satisfied that he got to go as he was - but I also expect she was sweating very non-regal vapors the whole time he was away, that's what grandmothers do.

On the silly side, I'll take pub fare over McDonald's in a nanosecond, and despite the bone chilling price difference.

So stuff your self righteous whine and accept the fact the your side is even farther along in PC devolution than ours is. We're both going the same direction.

Glad to say I'm on Prince Harry's side and not yours.
