Russia to deploy 11 new Topol-M ICBMs in 2008

20:33 | 27/ 02/ 2008

MOSCOW, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Strategic Missile Forces (SMF) will deploy 11 new silo and mobile-launched Topol-M intercontinental ballistic missiles in 2008, the SMF commander said on Wednesday.

Gen. Nikolai Solovtsov said the weapons would be deployed in the European part of Russia adding, "the SMF will receive 11 up-to-date Topol-M ICBMs in two versions [silo and mobile-launched]."

The missile (NATO reporting name SS-27), with a range of about 7,000 miles (11,000 kms), is said to be immune to any current and future U.S. ABM defense. It is capable of making evasive maneuvers to avoid a kill using terminal phase interceptors, and carries targeting countermeasures and decoys.

It is also shielded against radiation, electromagnetic pulse, nuclear blasts, and is designed to survive a hit from any form of laser technology.

Gen. Solovtsov earlier said that Topol-M systems would be equipped with multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRV) in the next two or three years.

Russia, which now operates around 50 Topol-Ms, resumed strategic bomber patrol flights over the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic oceans last August, following an order signed by President Putin.

In a speech on February 8, Putin blamed the West for unleashing a new international arms race.

I’m sure if Prophet Obama had dialogued with Putin, these missiles would of never been deployed.

Ah, The Smoker's Tooth Polish (TM).

"Said to be immune" - sure.

Because no one in America will be able to figure out how to use binomial progressions to map terminal phase changes in trajectory.

And you can load up a missile with an infinite number of decoys without compromising its effectiveness, apparently.

The same person who writes DNC press releases must work for Putin.

What the Russkies don’t realize is that we can shoot down their Topol missles before they get anywhere near a target.

And it walks the dog, makes love to your wife, never needs ironing.

No they can’t. Think about it? The US missile shield can’t protect North America from what is currently in the Russian nuke inventory. The shield is designed to provide a limited means against small aggressor states such as North Korea or Iran. The shield is limited and couldn’t destroy a nuclear onslaught from Russias ICBM/SLBMs.

And you know this how? Somehow I doubt the US has entrusted you with the exact parameters of our ABM capabilities.

It is a physical impossibility for a missile defense system to defeat even a portion of Russias ICBM/SLBMs. The systems being fielded by the US is purely limited. There is no magic umbrella over the US to stop Russia’s nuclear ballistic deterrent. The mutually assured destruction scenario is still very much present. Both sides would be losers with no winners in an all out nuclear exchange.

Read up on the program. If you believe in this ‘magic umbrella’ then you are only fooling yourself. Write to your Congress person and ask them why there is no ‘magic umbrella’ total protection.

“It is the policy of the United States to deploy as soon as is technologically possible an effective National Missile Defense system capable of defending the territory of the United States against limited ballistic missile attack (whether accidental, unauthorized, or deliberate) with funding subject to the annual authorization of appropriations and the annual appropriation of funds for National Missile Defense.

—National Missile Defense Act of 1999 (Public Law 106-38)”

Note the word limited!

Read up on the BMD program.

Document is 75MB size

Read up on the budget info. Explain to me how the budget for this totally inpregnable missile defense shield that you believe in is catered for?

“Budget Information

The funding for the Ballistic Missile Defense program is proposed by the President each year and considered by Congress. In addition, the Congress often provides language with guidance on the conduct of the BMD program.”
