Those born in Puerto Rico to parents born in Puerto Rico and even though we are US citizens, we cannot vote for President nor can we run for the Presidency.

Can this be were this is leading? Being born in Panama?

John McCains parents were citizens of the US as far as I know. The Puerto Rico situation is based on Governorship and Representation as allowed in the Constitution. Has Puerto Rico ever tried to get statehood? (That’s the key)

Puerto Ricans do not vote for POTUS in Puerto Rico as the island does not possess votes in the Electoral College. The same is true of Guam, Virgin Islands etc. But any Puerto Rican can pick up an American Airlines flight out of San Juan to JFK and vote for President in NY State by registering to vote. I do not believe that any determination regarding eligibility for POTUS has ever been challenged.
