Not trying to sound callous, but how do you forget where you have your guns?

Basically, yes. Maybe it's because I have little kids, but I know where all mine are. If you have a CCW permit, why isn't it on you? I don't know, it's sounds irresponsible, but we all make mistakes, fortunately no one was hurt. I hope he isn't punished too much, enough so he won't forget it again though.

No, but I make damn sure no screwdrivers are in my carry-on luggage. I carry a pocket-knife most of the time, but when I fly, I either put it in checked luggage or leave it home.
Firearms aren't toys - they're lethal weapons. Anyone who carries one has the duty to always treat it with the utmost safety. "Forgetting" you have it in your bag is not compatible with that duty.
When life is truly good, in a free society, you have enough guns that you don’t have to keep mental track of them at all times.

LOL. Nobody was asking the unfortunate gentleman to account for the whereabouts of all of his weapons. Just the one he had on him in his carry on bag. Too funny.
I sure as hell dunno where MY screw drivers are, and I have a son-in-law that’s got some ‘splainin’ to do. On the other hand I have forgotten NUMEROUS times that I have a weapon in my vehicle, until a gate guard asks me “All Secure Sir?” and I say “Yup!” hehe
