Sorry, I find it really hard to believe, that while standing in the security line, he didn’t even realise he was armed. They have pictures everywhere reminding you of what can and cannot be carried through.

Exactly. And those signs are there for a reason. It’s always a good idea to double check that you have no prohibited items before entering a checkpoint of any kind.
Failure to do otherwise can actually get you shot. :P

I guess if you think you have nothing to hide you could see the signs without seeing them. Kind of like listening to the stewardess ER routine after you have heard it multiple times.
However when you go to Mexico you will see the signs and double check. Funny huh?
