“Every day another 6,000 people are infected by HIV, said committee chairman Howard Berman, D-Calif. “We have a moral imperative to act decisively.”

NO, the people who would be infected have a moral imperative to not act in such in such a manner that results in infection.

“”We have a moral imperative to act decisively.” “

Why “We.”

We are already spending more than the rest of the world combined on the African epidemic with a US (Bush) program showing remarkable results in more ways than one.

Is it not a global problem??

Why “We”!

“...and it still won’t be enough. Ever wonder why?”

Easy. George Bush has been in Big Pharma’s pocket from Day 1.

This foreign “aid” is mostly a domestic boondoggle to profit drug companies.

AMEN! Keep the money home. I think we should be getting rid of virtually all FOREIGN aid. There are too many countries who owe us (and have for decades), and then do not support us in the world’s view.

Why can’t we spend money for AIDS research in this country as well??

“Meanwhile, Malaria......”

And TB, which are easily contracted by the average Joe are just not as PC as HIV. CDC wants to test every patient admitted to a hospital for HIV even though you can’t catch it in a hospital elevator or waiting room.

The telephone number for the House Foreign Affairs Committee is 202-225-5021. Call them and give them your opinion (politely).

Lovely. Cancer and heart disease patients need to hire a poltiical lobbyist or something. Same for people with other diseases. I mean, the government needs to stop disease and dying altogether. Stop messing around.

“the problem is that if we step out of Africa, the muslims will take over the vacuum”

Note: the muslims are already taking over most of Africa.

Yeah, all those 13-year-old girls who are forced by their families to marry older men who might have HIV have a moral imperative to, what, run away from their home and village and starve? And all those virgins who are raped by men who believe that sex with a virgin will cure AIDS have a moral imperative to, uh, not be virgins so they don't get raped? People, especially young women, are not always free to act in a way that protects them from harm.
