The problem I see is that the legislators are focused on the employee, not the employer. You can’t revive an economy by incentivizing to hire employees outside of business growth.

Incentivize the product and the business grows making them able to hire more residents.

Cracks down on companies that exploit illegal immigrant workers by canceling their state contracts and tax incentives. The plan would require them to pay back incentives already received and bar them from future contracts.

Be a real state and suspend their business license for ten days with the first offense, and revoke it permanently with the second. Watch what happens (that's what will happen in Arizona starting this coming Saturday).

The “preference to in-state” will award jobs to expensive companies that don’t have the ability to do the job. It will add billions to the cost and taxpayers will pick up the tab!

Precisely, Beagle8U. It will also drive any companies that want to run themselves as efficiently as possible, out of Michigan.

People wonder what's wrong with this? Just think of various big city Democrat mayoral schemes--- a species we should be familiar with in Michigan--- such as you have to live in the city to be a cop in said city, etc. Those don't work too well, right? Of course they don't; messing with free market incentives never works over the long term.

“..gives priority for economic development projects to companies that employ 100 percent Michigan workers. ..”

Hell, I did that and needed to leave Michigan. Taxes and fees are a killer, and I’ll be polite and not criticize the idiot Michigan worker/voter who thinks voting socialists into office is a real plus for the moribund Michigan economy.

See, I can be nice to brainless, useful idiots. :-)

“I don’t see anything wrong either ...”

You don’t live in Michigan. Try cleaning up the liberal mess in your own backyard of left-wing, smelly hippy Asheville, NC, and you’ll have a small example of what needs to cleaned up in the entire state of Michigan.

Michigan has been overun by useful idiots who vote in socialists and communists.
