McCain Apologizes for Radio Host’s Obama Comments at Rally

John McCain apologized Tuesday for disparaging comments about Barack Obama made by talk radio host Bill Cunningham at a McCain campaign rally in Cincinnati. Cunningham, a radio host at WLW-AM, had warmed up the crowd at Memorial Hall with comments about Obama and Hillary Clinton, likening Obama to a “hack, Chicago-style” politician and saying the Illinois senator would “saddle up next to Hezbollah,” Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and North Korean leader Kim Jong Il if elected president. When McCain addressed the crowd, he apologized for the remarks. “I regret any comments that may be made about these two individuals (Obama and Clinton) who are honorable Americans,” he said. “We just have strong philosophical differences, and so I want to disassociate myself from any disparaging remarks that may have been said about them.”

I find myself wanting to vote for him at times simply because Senator Obama is dangerous. Then I hear Senator Mccain say anything and my desire to support him diminishes. I am sending the money that would normally go to support our presidential nominee to a senatorial candidate challenging Senator Kerry here in Taxachusetts.

This one was funny.

McCain: Yes. I would announce that we are not ever going to torture anyone held in American custody. I would announce that we were closing Guantanamo Bay and moving those prisoners to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and I would announce a commitment to addressing climate change and my dedication to a global agreement — but it has to include India and China.

Notice he never did say he was going to get into the Kyoto Protocol agreement. To him, it would depend on China and India which both countries tells the Euros to go pound sand.

A lot of people says a lot of stuff before they take office of presidency.... like torture.... if that is what water boarding is. But then again if in real life he is given a choice between saving thousands of Americans lives or getting one terrorist a little wet, and he is responsible, my guess he'll have a attitude adjustment fast enough. Looking in from the outside is a lot different than actually being there. I think if a left wing loon like Obama or Hillary if faced with that same choice, they would be hard pressed to stand on that issue.

The interviewer says, "So is America coming back to renegotiate the Kyoto Protocol?".

I must be missing something here. I didn't know we ever agreed to the Kyoto Protocol. Not even Clinton and Gore did that.

As far as closing Gitmo, Bush also wants to close it but there are reasons he don'6t. I don't know what McCain would really do. He wouldn't be doing the detainees any favors if he did. Right now, they have it made in the shade.... coddled.

A lot of dumb talk concerning Senator McCain on FR. It's getting to be all a senseless stream of ridiculing rather than weighing the plus's and minuses of a candidate.

This site has lost a lot of its best posters, I suppose mostly due to the crassness of remarks allowed. It's getting more and more difficult to catch a good thread to enjoy and participate in.

Compared to FR lately, both McCain and Obama, have much more class. Even Rush and Coulter are losing their cool. All a bunch of whinners lately. Snap out of it!!

Any use of Democrat leftwing parlance disqualifies McCain.

His latest McCain/Lieberman “energy” bill, is entirely leftwing. He is willing to spend on his boondoggles, no problem.

Face it, he is a Democrat, this is where his heart and gut remains.

“No one could ever fill the shoes you want. Not even Reagan.”

Don’t be a horse’s ass. If that was true, why did I give money to Thompson?

Also, we elect a government - not just a President. Republicans in Congress will be able to do a better job fighting liberalism if they aren’t constantly stabbed in the back by someone like a President McCain!

Yeah, now, if you would leave, all the good posters would be gone.

Why hang around?

I supported Thompson before he quit.

he also was smeared here.

Before Thompson, I wanted to support Newt Greenwich. He didn’t even try.

After Thompson quit, I supported Mitt Romney.... he quit too.

That only leaves John McCain. All my favorites didn’t even make the cut.

I would support Ron Paul if he wasn’t such a kook and a whiner. He pi$$es and moans more than my ex my ex.

I totally disagree with the apology. Having said that, I saw that Cunningham guy on H&C and he seems like a total idiot. I would apologize just for having him there saying anything. lol
