Thankfully, 527s have no such limitations. We will be using this name often.

And George Bush became George Herbert Walker Bush.
It’s wrong to ask Obama about his religion even though Romney’s religion was the subject of many “would you ever vote for a Mormon” polls.

Very good. We apparently will have a whole new set of rules this year. No criticism of the Democratic candidate whatsoever. Does that include McCain? An awful lot of awful Democrats voted for him in the primary.

The double standard of tolerating the use of 'George Felix Allen' while denouncing the use of 'Barack Hussein Obama' would be laughable if the fate of our nation weren't at stake.Exactly.

Maybe John doesnt want to be referred to as John Sidney McCain.McCain should change his middle name to "Patsy". What better to call a man by who's been so taken by surprise at the betrayal of the NYT and the rest of the MSM?
John Patsy McCain...'sgot a nice ring, don't you think?

Your name is your name. “Fair game” seems like a stupid way to say it! If he hated its connotation so much, he should have changed it...that would be admirable.

Vice President Spiro Agnew went by Ted (his middle name was Theodore) his entire life, including as governor of Maryland. It was the press that dubbed him Spiro in hopes that he would be perceived as too Greek.
But the rules against renaming a candidate only applies to Democrats.

It’s especially telling that many Romney supporters never wanted to hear his first name, Willard, mentioned.
A name is a name. It is the PERSON who has the name that gives it its meaning.
If John Fitzgerald Kennedy had been a streetsweeper, you probably never would have heard of him. But because he was a president, his name has a strong connotation attached to it.
