"I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt an unwavering pro-Likud ap-proach to Israel, then you're anti-Israel, and that can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel," leading Democratic presidential contender Illinois Senator Barack Obama said Sunday.
"If we cannot have an honest dialogue about how do we achieve these goals, then we're not going to make progress," he said.
He also criticized the notion that anyone who asks tough questions about advancing the peace process or tries to secure Israel by anyway other than "just crushing the opposition" is being "soft or anti-Israel."
Obama made the comments in a closed-door meeting with several members of Cleveland's Jewish community, who will be participating in the crucial Ohio primary to be held next Tuesday.

And who exactly are these leftist clowns in Cleveland?
By the way, Obama would be correct if he meant that he supports more right wing groups than Likud-- but I don't think that's what he means.
I swear, if this freak becomes president, I’m going to go out and stockpile coffee, sugar, cigarettes (for bartering), vodka, tuna, peanut butter, catfood (I have cats), rice, matches, etc.... and then hunker down with only the hope of outliving the beginning of the end.
I can’t imagine what a disaster foreign policy would be with this guy in charge. He may not be a Muslim but I’m thinkin he’s got a great big soft spot for that bunch.
Well, you know, never been proud of own country, not wearing flag lapel pin, not honoring National Anthem - all of this is just a stronger form of the patriotism. Are you surprised that throwing Israel under the bus is actually a stronger form of love and ultimate friendship? Time to re-read Orwell.
The sad thing is Shaikh Baraq Hussain Obama will carry the liberal jewish vote.
FGS, this sissified excuse for a man makes John Kerry look good.
"I think there is a strain within the pro-Israel community that says unless you adopt an unwavering pro-Likud approach to Israel, then you're anti-Israel, and that can't be the measure of our friendship with Israel," leading Democratic presidential contender Illinois Senator Barack Obama said Sunday.Oh! From what i've seen invoking the word "Likud" is a leftie's way of cloaking anti-semitism or anti-Israelism as being merely anti-convservative, like in a domestic anti-Republican sense. Though I haven't seen that "Likunic" rationalization in years. Last I heard it was from Joe "Plame" Wilson.
Surprise! Obama, the antisemite.
Oh, yeah. Hillary and Rice/Albright would be so much better. There is no candidate who is truly in favor of Israel. Even McCain would likely continue the current trend in anti-Israel politics.
Obama is no friend of the Jews, and they know it.

In 52 seconds why Obama will not win a general election!
Might cause less of the massive Islamist money currently pouring into Hussein Obama's coffers.
Obastard in his new joooo-proof uniform:
Are we going to have to memorize every letter of the Koran if Borat gets elected?
Obama is about the equivalent of David Duke to most Jewish Democrats and RINOs here in NJ.
His early years were influenced by Islam. And his conversion to a brand of racial supremacist Christianity makes it worse than if he was just a lax Muslim (or forbid a Unitarian.)
He has attended PROUDLY a racial supremacist church for over a decade. If he was some University of Illinois graduate from the Southside who worked his way up through Chicago machine politics, I don’t think it would be such a problem. But Obama attended Harvard, and Harvard Law. He could be attending any church in Chicago for all these years. He could have gone to any predominately African American Church in Chicago. The only reasonable explanation why he chose an openly and unapologetically racialist church is he is at heart a racist ideologue who wants to hear his racist views reaffirmed every Sunday morning. Inside the racial African Supremacist ideologue is massive amounts of anti-Semitic ideology and demogoguery.
Jewish Americans are predominately urban dwelling or one generation removed from urban dwelling, there is a very high level of understanding as to what specific problems any African American politician who cohorts with those ideologies brings to the table regarding Jewish Americans, leaving Israel aside.
Here we have had Obama in national debates saying he won’t cowtow to special interests, now he’s out there cowtowing to special interests in politics of a foreign country.
Martin Luther King Jr:
“. . . You declare, my friend, that you do not hate the Jews, you are merely ‘anti-Zionist.’ And I say, let the truth ring forth from the high mountain tops, let it echo through the valleys of God’s green earth: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews—this is God’s own truth.
“Antisemitism, the hatred of the Jewish people, has been and remains a blot on the soul of mankind. In this we are in full agreement. So know also this: anti-Zionist is inherently antisemitic, and ever will be so.
“Why is this? You know that Zionism is nothing less than the dream and ideal of the Jewish people returning to live in their own land. The Jewish people, the Scriptures tell us, once enjoyed a flourishing Commonwealth in the Holy Land. From this they were expelled by the Roman tyrant, the same Romans who cruelly murdered Our Lord. Driven from their homeland, their nation in ashes, forced to wander the globe, the Jewish people time and again suffered the lash of whichever tyrant happened to rule over them.
“The Negro people, my friend, know what it is to suffer the torment of tyranny under rulers not of our choosing. Our brothers in Africa have begged, pleaded, requested—DEMANDED the recognition and realization of our inborn right to live in peace under our own sovereignty in our own country.
“How easy it should be, for anyone who holds dear this inalienable right of all mankind, to understand and support the right of the Jewish People to live in their ancient Land of Israel. All men of good will exult in the fulfilment of God’s promise, that his People should return in joy to rebuild their plundered land.
This is Zionism, nothing more, nothing less.
“And what is anti-Zionist? It is the denial to the Jewish people of a fundamental right that we justly claim for the people of Africa and freely accord all other nations of the Globe. It is discrimination against Jews, my friend, because they are Jews. In short, it is antisemitism.
“The antisemite rejoices at any opportunity to vent his malice. The times have made it unpopular, in the West, to proclaim openly a hatred of the Jews. This being the case, the antisemite must constantly seek new forms and forums for his poison. How he must revel in the new masquerade! He does not hate the Jews, he is just ‘anti-Zionist’!
“My friend, I do not accuse you of deliberate antisemitism. I know you feel, as I do, a deep love of truth and justice and a revulsion for racism, prejudice, and discrimination. But I know you have been misled—as others have been—into thinking you can be ‘anti-Zionist’ and yet remain true to these heartfelt principles that you and I share.
Let my words echo in the depths of your soul: When people criticize Zionism, they mean Jews—make no mistake about it.”
Obama is doing what all liberals do. He is trying to be on both sides of everything. That usually means use the rhetoric of the right and the actions of the left.
Ya, and being Pro-Obama doesn’t necessarily mean being Pro-America.
