For months, leading Democrats like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chief Rahm Emanuel have tried to talk tough on illegal immigration. Mr. Emanuel told The Washington Post last year that immigration is "the third rail of American politics," adding that "anyone who doesn't realize that isn't with the American people," earning himself angry denunciations from the far-left fringe. Last month, Mrs. Pelosi joined House Minority Leader John Boehner in announcing that the House-passed economic stimulus bill would "not allow any taxpayer funds to be distributed to illegals." The Democratic leadership's efforts to sound tough on illegal immigration have created serious friction with some members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, which believes the Democratic leadership is too timid about pushing for amnesty legislation.
If senior Democrats were really serious about a get-tough approach toward illegal immigration, we would be urging the Republican minority to reach across the aisle and work with the Democratic leadership to come up with a genuine bipartisan solution. But unfortunately, the Democrats are putting together an elaborate con job: using tough-sounding rhetoric while working behind the scenes with open-borders advocates in the business community to win support from from firms that have become very dependent on cheap foreign labor. The goal of these Democrats and possibly the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as well is to defeat a bipartisan bill that takes a no-amnesty, enforcement-oriented approach to illegal immigration. Specifically, they are very worried about the fact that a growing number of moderate and conservative Republicans and Democrats (and even a few liberals) are cosponsoring the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement (SAVE) Act, H.R. 4088, introduced by Rep. Heath Shuler, North Carolina Democrat.

Introduce Nancy to the parents of the four kids killed in Minnesota.
She wouldn’t care. She represents the lunatic left which cares only about homosexuality, the rights of criminals and deadbeats.
Typical dem stunt - lying, cheating, giving the appearance of doing the right thing.
Nancy doesn’t give a hoot how many people are killed by illegal aliens.
nancy is utter BS....who is she trying to fool now?...answer: Americans! nancy...go home with the invaders you love....uh oh....she’s done that already...and now she wants to say it didn’t work out? nancy, you can fool some Americans some of the time....but well nancy....you know what the rest of the saying is.
Typical dem stunt - lying, cheating, giving the appearance of doing the right thing. The New York Times must love them - the only place in America where the "appearance" is more important the the reality.
The version at this post has a good rundown on the Baca amendment: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1975888/posts
The Baca Amendment would give illegal aliens who pass a background check a "five-year temporary worker permit" that expires on Dec. 31, 2012. It would also provide employers who hired illegal aliens "safe harbor" (apparently some measure of immunity from prosecution) for past hiring of illegal aliens. If Shuler gets enough signatures to force his bill to the floor, Democrats hope to neuter it by attaching the Baca Amendment.
If Baca's proposal were to become law, open-borders advocates could come back later and pass legislation putting these illegals on a path to citizenship. While not endorsing the Baca Amendment, a senior official with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce said he believed there was "some kind of deal in the works."...
Hey Pelosi....how many times do you need to get smacked? THE PUBLIC DOESN’T AGREE WITH YOU, YOU IDIOT!!!
The Hispanic Caucus and La Raza and MALDEF and all the other ethnocentric Hispanic political groups don’t give a DEAD RATS A@# about the plight of poor Illegals on street.
The Amnesty Agenda is just the way to political power for these people and the Illegal is the pack mule.
The leaders of these groups like Janet Merguia of La Raza are elites who would care less than nothing for illegals except for thier future voting power.
Hey, check it out, remember this guy? Local boy makes good! Although he is on the D side... Redskin thing I guess.

Stealing the George Bush wage depression rhetorical strategy. The Bushbots should sue!
The Dems might feel empowered because lately the MSM is reflexively regurgitating the Karl Rove originated theme that “the Hispanic vote” demands something like amnesty.
Pelosi, la Patrona, owns a vineyard allegedly. Probably uses illegals I suspect.
Do NOT underestimate the drive behind this amnesty gambit.
These driving forces are almost unstoppable. All Democrats, almost the entire leadership cadre of the Republican Party, this President and the next President, the entire MSM, the Chamber of Commerce, CEOs of nearly EVERY large corporation, lobby groups from every trades and services business, the unions, - they are all for amnesty and open borders, and they are determined to get them. Damn the stupid American people who are interfering with their quest for power and profit.
It required an overwhelming wave of opposition and condemnation by the American public (70-80%) to turn it aside last summer, but they are counting on America’s historical chronic fatigue syndrome to await an increasing lack of interest to eventually sneak it by them.
Sadly, a McCain presidency will guarantee amnesty as the author of the legislation himself “reaches across the aisle” to work with Reid and Pelosi to jam amnesty down the stupid Americans’ throats. And the spineless Republicans in Congress will “have to support our President McCain”.
At least with an Obama presidency, guaranteed to be a failure soon after its initiation, Republicans in Congress might be able to raise the courage to oppose it. Not good options, but it’s a McCain certainty vs. an Obama possibility.
300,000,000 people and we’re down to these 3. Geesh!
If this guy had any brains he would switch over to the GOP. I have a feeling the tide has turned and he will be painted with the SF liberal anti-american brush.
Of course, if he had any brains he would have stopped throwing it to the wrong colored jerseys.
Illegal immigration is the number one reason for wage stagnation and deflation among blue collar workers in the US. So much for the “little people” the ‘Rats are supposed to be looking out for.

Rep. Heath Shuler, North Carolina Democrat
Heath looks like he’s figured out how to ensure he’s reelected this November. This will drive the noisy moonbat community in Ashville nuts but rest of the distict will hum a chorus of “Hail to the Redskins” and pull the lever for the boy.
