They're Republican red, and true blue to Obama
Los Angeles Times ^ | February 24, 2008 | Mark Z. Barabak

Posted on 02/24/2008 6:42:34 PM PST by indcons

Chatter bounces off the bare walls and checkered linoleum floor as Josh Pedaline and other Barack Obama supporters burn through their call sheets.

A map of Delaware County splays across a tabletop. Another is laden with cookies, pretzels and other snacks. Volunteers seated elbow-to-elbow peck at cell phones and pitch the Democratic Illinois senator in advance of Ohio's March 4 primary.

The scene is a typical campaign boiler room, except that four of the 13 dialing away are lifelong Republicans, including Pedaline, who reveres former President Reagan and twice voted for President Bush.

"I am so sick and tired of the partisanship," Pedaline says before the start of his shift at the Obama outpost in this affluent suburb north of Columbus. "I don't want to be cheesy and say, 'He'll bring us all together.' But he seems like someone willing to listen to a good idea, even if it comes from a Republican."

Pedaline and other GOP renegades are part of a striking phenomenon this campaign season: They are "Obamacans," as the senator calls them, and they are surfacing in surprising numbers, blurring the red-blue lines that color the nation's politics.

"I'm a conservative, but I have gay friends," Pedaline, 28, says over dinner at a Columbus diner. "I have friends who don't believe in abortion, but I don't condemn them for it. I don't feel like Obama is condemning me for being a Republican."

The drive-by media is focusing on RINOs again. No sane Republican would support the arch-socialist, illegal alien loving, abortionist, B Hussein Obama.

These stories about so-called “republicans” voting for the rodent candidate are a dime a dozen. It’s funny we NEVER see stories about rodents voting for the Republican candidate. Must be one of those media bias things.

[Former Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, who quit the Republican Party after losing his reelection bid, endorsed Obama even though he campaigned for Chafee’s opponent last year.]

Friends and colleagues affectionately refer to Mr. Chafee as “Bend-Over Linc.”

....But he seems like someone willing to listen to a good idea, even if it comes from a Republican."

Considering the fact that Obama's voting record is 100% left-wing, the most left-wing in the Senate, what makes this fool think Obama listens to Republicans?

"I'm a conservative, but I have gay friends," Pedaline, 28, says over dinner at a Columbus diner. "I have friends who don't believe in abortion, but I don't condemn them for it. I don't feel like Obama is condemning me for being a Republican."

This jackass gave himself away here. He commends himself for tolerating friends who "don't believe in abortion". That means he favors abortion. And the claims of open-mindedness (even as he accuses others of being closed-minded) are typical examples of liberal rhetoric.

I say this guy's a fraud. A seminar Republican like the ones who come here preaching open-borders because they want to "revitalize the GOP with new immigrants".

I’ve been living in L.A. for close to 2 yrs and NEVER bought 1 single copy of that liberal rag.

And yes, just like the balance of the universe; how come the MSM never reports stories of Dumocrats voting for the GOP? and yes, I’ve known people who have done it in my entire existence.

He's a conservative, but he's going all out to help a communist get elected...for the sake of "bi-partisanship."

The media did a story like this back in 2004 about Ohio and "Republicans" crossing over and that it was a huge phenomena likely to cost Bush the presidency - proven to be false on election night.

Ye Gods. I don’t know what’s worse: the Peoples Temple conservatives or these kinds of turncoats.

Thankfully, in this case it’s mostly propaganda. Every presidential campaign will have a small organization of supporters harkening from the other side.

The last guy the MSM identified as a life-long Republican was on record as contributing $2000 to Chris Dodd's presidential campaign.

For some reason, I question the veracity of these reports.

Along this (very general) line, I'm reminded of what I call the "Bradley Effect".....this was when Tom Bradley, black mayor of Los Angeles, ran twice for gubernator of California.

BOTH times, he was heavily favored in the polls -- right up to election day.

Y'all can complete the equation. Bradley got trounced, aside from his poll standings.

Republicans for Obama—what nonsense. Obama wants to abort babies, using government funds, thru all nine months of gestation. The Republican Party is pro-life. Obama doesn’t want to monitor the communications of foreign terrorists and voted against FISA to protect the terrorists and the trial lawyers. Republicans back FISA. Obama wishes namesake Hussein were still ruling Iraq and wants to surrender the country to Al Quaeda. Republicans are glad Hussein is gone and want victory over Al Quaeda in Iraq.
This story is just another piece of MSM propaganda.
