I read through this article below, and realized just how important my vote is AGAINST Obama or Hillary because of the damage they would do to our country. It is a long read, but worth it!

I'm aware of the argument, and it's stated well in your link. Reasonable people can take that view. But on the other side is this: OK, we get McCain the win, and the government isn't bats*** insane for the next four years. But conservatism for a generation is defined by the views of a mushy centrist, and the Republican party becomes, basically, a Democrat-lite party. Then voters decide they'd just as soon have the real thing, and we spend the next 20 years under liberal democrat presidents because "we" wanted to "win" so badly this year.
Or, we send a message to the party that nominating a RINO turd isn't the way to win, and we turn this year into 1976, hoping to come back in four years (or maybe two years) and turn things around in a real way.
It is, of course a gamble. And four years of Obama will cause real harm, as did four years of Carter. I'm not saying it's a good option; I'm just trying to choose the least bad option available, with the long term in mind.
