At the same time, obviously he wanted to tie his death to the statement above. He was sane enough to understand that we would view this as first and foremost mental illness, but he did not view it that way himself.
I'm not aware of another case exactly like this. Perhaps "blog suicide notes" are more common than I know. Certainly if one reads through the entire blog his situation is odd - assuming that the facts presented there are correct.
On the web it is always hard to know. I felt the only way to vet this was to put it here. Free Republic is one of the most powerful investigatory collectives in the world.
Looks like Alamo Girl may have another entry for the "Downside".
Wow, horrendous. Are you sure this isn’t a hoax? I hope it is...
No, I’m not totally sure.
All I know is exactly what I’ve posted.
The blog is there in the link. You can read his story. He was apparently convicted of stalking President Clinton in 1994. There is a lot of material there, and there is this last posting.
I figured out his name by reading through the postings and googled it and found the death notice. I’m not sure that anyone else has noticed this, until I did. He seemed that it required posting.
Was he really convicted of an attempt of murder of President Clinton? I can’t seem to remember any such event.
If only something could be done that would force liberals to follow suit.
Seems like his conviction is true.

Looks like it might be true. But the ages are all over the place. When I looked, 1994 articles have him as 39. The 2000 post has him as 52, and the death notice has 49 (8 years later).
No. They didn’t have enough evidence to convict him of attempted murder. He was convicted (according to the article, which is interesting in its own right) of ‘threatening the life of the President’.
Tragic. Do you have a link to his blog?
Thank you very much. I meant to include that in my introduction.
Another AOL user.
See post #8.
One story on his blog listed him as 52 back in 2000. On his site his profile; http://www.blogger.com/profile/02767498198886077632 shows him to be 59 y/o.
The death notice you’ve shown is for a 47 y/o. Typo or maybe he’s still alive?
I suspect the death notice is correct. Usually the surviving family give the information for them.
#1.) It's the revolutionary's duty to live to fight another day.
Then who is Winston Smith’s blog?

I don't consider mentally ill people who kill themselves "Darwin Award Winners".
Call me a coward, but I tend to believe that my life is more important to me than my death would be to others.
It looks like it may also be his blog. Many bloggers have multiple blogs. The ‘Ultimate Sacrifice’ posting is also the last post on that blog, on the same day.
