Bill Would Outlaw Nooses in Public

Hanging a noose in public could be against the law under a bill filed by a black state lawmaker, a reaction to recent intimidating uses of the lynching symbol.

The bill, filed last week, would prohibit a person from placing a noose in a public place, on the property of another without written permission of the owner or in an exhibit of any kind with the intention of intimidating another person.

Violating the proposed law could lead to up to a year in jail.

The bill's sponsor, Sen. Larcenia Bullard, D-Miami, said Thursday there is a movement among several black advocacy groups to have similar laws adopted in every state.

Leading to an eventual ban on all symbolic representations of instruments of execution, including Roman ones.

In addition, the proposed law would outlaw the Granny Knot.

Similar to the Square Knot, the Granny Knot is an insecure and dangerous variation of the Square Knot and is the cause of many fatalities over the years.

How about swords then?

As a European-American, I surely have ancestors who perished by the sword for their racial/ethnic/cultural background.

I am now officialy offended by the public appearance of swords.

But burning and defecating on an American flag will still be okay, as it is in Berkeley, right?

“Please tell me this is some kind of sick joke.”

My comment, or the proposed legislation?

Since white folks were largely doing the lynching, wouldn’t it stand to reason that we should be outlawed as well? I have heard more than one person say the South is a lasting symbol of Jim Crow and racial intimidation. By the noose logic, shouldn’t the entire South be illegal?

Will there be an exception for hanging a President in effigy?

How about flag burning?
How about the term, “he got roped into something”?

The nut job that introduced that bill has not read the Constitution - although in danger of losing it, we still have free speech.

I learned to tie that knot in the Boyscouts. I can’t really recall WHY we learned it but it was one of the favorite knots we used for securing things, there were nooses everywhere for a while, even used a variation of it to tie our fishhooks securely.

Anyone who wants to help her get rid of nooses should probably gather all that they can and mail them to her.

And yet burning a flag or flashing a gang sign is “protected free speech” even when the flag is stolen property.

"Leading to an eventual ban on all symbolic representations of instruments of execution, including Roman ones." Good morning.

I’ll bet they don’t ban images of tires.

a reaction to recent intimidating uses of the lynching symbol.

The only "intimidating uses" of the noose symbol were done by blacks to foster outrage, this was proved.

So, now we have a state lawmaker wanting to outlaw something that wasn't used to intimidate anyone but whites in order to foster the ever popular "whitey hates us" attitude and keep the victim status going.

More white people have been hung then blacks in the USA. Do a little research on Judge Parker in the Oklahoma territory and find out how many whites(and other ethnicities I am sure, but mostly whites)were hung during that time period. What a bunch of BS.
